Composite electroplating is an electrochemical method by compounding nanoparticles and some kind of metallic crystal together, so it was provided with some special capabilities. Ni-ZrO2 nanometer particles coating is composing of nickel and dispersing high hardness ZrO2 nanometer particles, which has characteristics including better wear-resistance, high hardness, and good heat-durability.In modern steel industry, the technology of continual casing steel is very important to improve the efficiency of process and depress the product cost. In order to extending the mold periods, most of the casting copper mold coated the electroplating layer in continual casting machine. The electroplating layer is required the better performance including good toughness, high hardness and better wear-resistance in high temperature.In this paper, hardness, wear-resistance and electrodeposit speed of ZrO2 nanoparticles & nickel composite coating based on copper plate is studied. ZrO2 nanoparticle serosity is put into nickel amino-sulfonate electroplating liquid and its metallographer is observed. This kind of coating is used in real making-steel process.Main jobs are as follows:At first, the process of ZrO2 nanoparticles & nickel composite coating is optimized by orthogonal test. Finally the best process parameter is: current density of cathode is3A/dm2,concentration of Zr O2 is 12g/L,temperature of electroplating liquid is 50℃,space between of electrode poles is 12 cm.Secondly the average deposit speed of Zr O2 nanoparticles & nickel composite coating is about 0.007 mm/h·A, it is calculated on the basis of electroplating time and current density.Finally, basing on the laboratory research of the characteristic of Ni-ZrO2 nanometer particles composite coating, the trial-manufactured industry equipments is designed. In steel making factory, the assemble square casting molds were plated Ni-ZrO2 nanometer particles composite coating and it gets better impression than nickel coating and depresses the material cost of electroplate.
