Water Environmental Consciousness And Behavior Of Rural Residents

Rural water environmental governance has gradually become an important content and challenge of new rural construction in our country.Former researches usually focus on government role and technical methods.However,water environmental protection is a common responsibility of every person,and the occur of rural water environmental problems is highly related to villagers’ environmental consciousness and behavior. The study of the relationship between rural residents’ water environmental awareness and behavior has important significance.With regard of Changxing county,Zhejiang province ranks the top in rural water environment management work, this research is aimed to provide some useful reference for rural water environmental governance.450 samples of the empirical analysis in changxing county shows that:firstly, Seeing from water environment consciousness and behavior’s situation,villagers carry high sensitivity of water environmental problems and positive attitude to water environmental protection,but low degree of knowledge.Besides,the degree of practicing ecological management behavior is the highest, followed by consumptive behavior which needs certain costs, finally is public water environmental behavior having higher requirement;Secondly, villagers who has higher water environmental consciousness are more likely to take active behavior, which verifies the theory of "consciousness affects behavior"to some extent;Thirdly, villagers’ consciousness and behavior of water environment are not completely corresponding to each other. Specifically, villagers’ sensitivity of water environmental problems, residents’attitude toward water environment, and how much they know about water environment have different influence on public behavior, ecological management behavior,and consumptive behavior. The empirical analysis of 450 samples in Changxing county shows that villagers’ attitude to water environmental protection has positive influence on all three behavior; villagers’ sensitivity of water environmental problems has positive influence on public behavior, ecological management behavior villagers’, but not make a significant effect on consumptive behavior;In addition, villagers’ acquaintance of water environmental knowledge only has positive influence on ecological management behavior,it neither has a significant impact on consumptive behavior nor in public behavior.In view of the above empirical analysis, for governance of rural water environment, four suggestions can be put forward:expanding rural water environmental publicity and education, and improve villagers’cognition to the water environmental problems;Accelerate the process of the construction of rural water environmental protection legal system,and give constraints and incentives to villagers’ water environmental behavior;Strengthening multiple regulatory mechanism of rural water environment,and form villagers’ of water environmental responsibility consciousness;Encourage villagers’ active participation in water environmental protection, and develop positive attitude toward water environmental protection.
