The grinding mechanism of often discussed by grinding process, grinding force,grinding temperature,residual stress and surface burns were studied during the grinding process. the nature of the micro-grinding is cutting edge, and therefore single grain as a simplified model of the grinding wheel grinding process, it is an effective method to study the grinding mechanism. in view of the characteristics of existing single grain grinding research as well as the status of single particle grinding process, In this paper, single particle linear swipe test is used to study single particle grinding force. while a program of single grain grinding test is p roposed and carried out, than debris and wear scar of carburized alloy steel 20 Cr Mo with single grain is investigated. The main research work is described as follows:(1) Single particle straight simulation model is set up. a ccording to the actual single CBN grits of geometric characteristics and the characteristics of the grinding, CBN grits was simplified into cutting head square taper in this paper, grinding force model and finite element simulation model are set up based on micro cutting of alloy 20 Cr Mo. Than chip mechanism of single CBN abrasive grain and grinding force with the change of the parameters such as grinding depth and velocity is analyzed.(2) Single particle grinding arc swipe test model was built, compared to single particle linear swipe test simulation results, the difference between the grinding force and chips of two grinding force model were analyzed, taking the actual grinding trajectory into account, so single particle grinding arc swipe method was chosen as single particle grinding test methods,Than single particle grinding arc swipe test deviceis is designed and manufactured.(3) Experiment of grinding of 20 Cr Mo has been conducted by the single grain device, both the chip morphology and groove morphology were detected by super depth of field microscope, and the change law of material removal in the grinding process is studied.(4) During the same single particle grinding test, cubic boron nitride of abrasive wear were observed and analyzed the changing rule of the CBN grits wear st ate and wear mechanism.
