| This paper is based on an in-house developed functional emulsifier compound. Different methods as magnetic stirring, high speed shearing, ultrasonic, and electrostatic spray were employed to prepare micro-emulsified diesel oil, respectively. And the optimum conditions of the above four kinds of emulsifing methods were investigated. The physical and chemical properties, the atomization characteristics, the explosion and combustion characteristics under laboratory condition, and the explosion and combustion characteristics under the unconstrained condition of the four different products were measured. Comparative studies were also carried on between the micro-emulsified fire resistant diesel and the-10 military diesel on the fire and explosion suppression characteristics. The main conclusions of this paper are as follows:1. When using magnetic stirring method to prepare micro-emulsified diesel of 5% water, the emulsifier compound needed at least 7% to keep the products clear and colorless, at the condition that stirring speed is 2400 rpm, processing time is 10 min. Preparing product with better thermal stability needs at least 10% emulsifier compound.2. When using high speed shearing method to prepare micro-emulsified diesel of 5% water content, the emulsifier compound needed at least 6% to keep the products clear and colorless, at the condition that shearing speed is 10000 rpm and processing time is 10min. Preparing product with better thermal stability needs at least 10% emulsifier compound.3. When using ultrasonic method to prepare micro-emulsified diesel of 5% water, the emulsifier compound needed at least 6% to keep the products clear and colorless, at the condition that input voltage is 80 V and processing time is 4 min. Preparing product with better thermal stability needs at least 9% emulsifier compound.4. When using electrostatic spray method to prepare micro-emulsified diesel of 5% water, the emulsifier compound needed at least 5% to keep the products clear and colorless, at the condition that voltage is 13 kV and spray flow rate is 0.1 ml/min. Preparing product with better thermal stability needs at least 8% emulsifier compound.5. The atomization characteristics and explosion characteristics of the micro-emulsified diesels prepared by the above four methods are similar, but owing to the larger viscocity, the atomization and explosion performance of the micro-emulsified diesel products are poorer under the same spray condition when compared with the-10 military diesel. The combustion characteristics of the four products under the laboratory condition are similar, while the combustion duration and the flame temperature of the four products are smaller when compared with the-10 military diesel. The explosion and combustion performance of the four micro-emulsified diesels under the unconstrained condition are poorer in some extent when compared with the-10 military diesel.6. The fire and explosion suppression performance of the four products are better than the-10 military diesel. |
