This study aimed to develop a fresh-keeping film applying in modified atmosphere packaging of cherry tomatoes, to extend the shelf life and further to broaden the market of cherry tomatoes. Firstly, the experiment of modified atmosphere storage was carried out using films with different gas barrier to study the effect of gas barrier of film on the atmosphere storage of cherry tomatoes and the change features of quality during storage. Secondly, based on the previous research, the PE/PL blend uniaxial tensile films were prepared with the PL content of 0、5、15、20%, respectively. Packaging performance and fresh-keeping effect were tested to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of the modified film and the foundation was laid for further modification. Finally, instead of PE, PB was blended with PL to prepare the PB/PL blend uniaxial tensile film with the PL content of 0、10、20、30%, respectively. Packaging performance and fresh-keeping effect were tested to further understand the modified atmosphere packaging characteristics of the blending modified film. The PE/PL and PB/PL film showed the water vapor permeability increased more than 9 times and 37.9 times, compared to that of PE film. Meanwhile, the permselectivity of a(CO2/O2) of the PE/PL and PB/PL film reached 5.39 and 9.48. The cherry tomato in the packaging made of PE/PL5 and PB/PL30 film showed shelf-life of 42 and 66 days, respectively. It suggested that higher permselectivity of α(CO2/O2) and appropriate water vapor permeability can significantly extend the shelf life of cherry tomatoes.
