Crude wood vinegar obtained during carbonization process of the biomass materials or residue of wood, which required to refine for different purposes in the practical application. Composition of wood vinegar is complex, and wood vinegar is feature-rich. Composition of wood vinegar comprise mainly by acids, phenols, ketones and alcohols, etc., at. This stage study found that wood vinegar had had variety of biological activities, such as antibacterial anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidation, improve soil, and promote plant growth, insecticide, and so on.Comparing standing-solvent extraction, standing-ultrasonic assisted extraction, standing-atmospheric distillation-freeze-drying, standing-atmospheric distillation-solvent extraction, standing-atmospheric distillation-rotary evaporator to refine BWV. At the same time, SWV as a reference, and the refined wood vinegar was subjected to GC-MS analysis. The results showed that yield of BWV and SWV refined by standing-atmospheric distillation-rotary evaporation was highest, reached 55.38%and 47.49%.62 species,94 species compounds of BWV, SWV were identified respectively by GC-MS.Experiment measured the antibacterial activities of BWV and three other reference wood vinegar, the results showed that four kinds of wood vinegar had strong antibacterial activities, especially DWV. BWV had inferior effect on fungi than the other 3 kinds of wood vinegar, and it didn’t inhibit the growth of A. niger, M. fructicola. Antibacterial mechanism of wood vinegar was studied based on MIC. The research results showed that four kinds of wood vinegar have a strong inhibitory effect on three kinds of bacteria, distillated sawdust wood vinegar has the strongest inhibitory effect on three kinds of bacteria. Growth curve of three kinds of tested bacteria was respectively changed based on MIC. Cell membrane permeability was increased, leading to intracellular electrolytes, protein and carbohydrate exudation, wood vinegar also inhibited bacterial protein synthesis, make the cell metabolism, ultimately to cell death, thus plays the bacteriostatic action.The antibacterial experiments which every two kinds of mixtures of wood vinegar indicated that in addition to E. coli optimum mix ratio was DWV-DWV (2:8), for the purposes of DWV compounding effect was not obvious, best complex inhibitory effect of the other five kinds of tested strains were more than single agent timber vinegar. Additionaly, the antibacterial experiments which Betula platyphylla leaves oil in June was respectively mixed with refined BWV and SWV showed that:refined BWV had no inhibition to M. fructicola, but the mixture of refined BWV and Betula platyphylla leaves oil had inhibition to six kinds of tested strains. Refined SWV had inhibition to six kinds of tested strains before and after the mixing.Wood vinegar antioxidant test showed :reducing power, DPPH·scavenging activity, ·OH scavenging activity of BWV were weaker than MWV、SWV、DWV. Reducing power and DPPH·scavenging activity of SWV were strongest with lowest half effective concentration (EC50/IC50). Except SWV, ·OH scavenging rates of the remaining three samples couldn’t reached 50%. Experiment also measured the antioxidant activity of polyphenols extracted from wood vinegar. The results showed that four kinds of polyphenols extracted from wood vinegar had certain reducing power and ·OH scavenging activity, but DPPH· scavenging rate couldn’t reached 50%. Reducing power and ·OH scavenging activity of E-BWV were strongest with lowest half effective concentration (EC50/IC50).Antioxidant activity of mixtures which Betula platyphylla leaves oil in June was respectively mixed with refined BWV and SWV showed:EC50 of two kinds of mixtures had increased. DPPH·scavenging activity of mixture which Betula platyphylla leaves oil in June was mixed with refined SWV has strengthened with lower IC50, but IC50 of the other mixture has increased.·OH scavenging activity of two kinds of mixtures showed relatively weak,·OH scavenging rate couldn’t reached 50%, consistent with the situation prior to mixing.
