The invention of coating makes our life more colorful, but some environmental problems come out. VOC is the ordinary solvent of coating, but it’s not friendly to our environment. researchers have focused on how to reduce the use of VOC in coating. resin it the main raw material of coating. it determins the performance of coating. it also determins the ratio the VOC in coating. we modified the resin to reduce the demande of VOC without degrading the resin’s performance.(1) The light color and low viscosity IA-GMA resin was obtained from itaconic acid made from plant fermentation by chaging resin preparation technology and catalysts. PU- UV dual curing system was discussed. this system had a better performance. besides, traditional uv-curable necessary active diluents were not necessary. at the same time, it was friend to our environment.(2) The hydrophilic groups was accessed to IA-GMA resin. a stable water-based itaconic acid resin was obtained. at the same time, the optimal reaction conditions were confirmed. and the the comprehensive performance of the resin coating was evaluated.(3) The maleic anhydride(MAH) and six hydrogen of benzene anhydride(HHPA) were connected to the IA- GMA resin, without using the isocyanate.
