Lanthanide complexes have drawn more and more attention for the excellent photoactive properties, such as sharp emission bands of high color purity, broad emission spectra covering the ultraviolet-visible-near infrared spectral region. However, due to the poor thermal stability and low mechanical strength, lanthanide complexes have been excluded from practical application. One One feasible method is to introduce the lanthanide complex into a stable host to comeover the disadvantages. With organic-inorganic hybrid materials in depth research and updating, its design is more abundant, innovative and diversified. At present, for the lanthanide complexe-based organic-inorganic hybrid materials are mainly concentrated in the luminescent silicon compound. The silicon compound is variety, and with excellent features. Basing on numerous studies of silicon-based material,we have synthesized a series of lanthanide inorganic-organic hybrid materials based on silica substrates. The research of this thesis includes the following two parts:(1) The first use of a bifunctional ligand 5-Br-Tip to graft lanthanide complexes covalently to mesoporous silica nanopheres. The lanthanide complexes functionalized mesoporous silica nanopheres have a good dispersion, uniform morphology, low toxicity and good biocompatibility, and the lanthanide ions characteristic fluorescence emission. The cell imaging application of Eu-Tip-MSS is successful with the excitation of visible light to reduce the harm on living tissue.(2) We expanded the visible luminescent POSS hybrid materials to NIR luminescent POSS by covalently linking ternary lanthanide complexes to exhibit multicolor emission covered from the visible-to-NIR region(450–1700 nm) and extend the applications of the POSS matrix in the NIR optical area. The hybrid materials have many brilliant features, with a broad emission covering from the visible to near infrared region, a small size, good light and heat stability and so on.
