Hydraulic bulge with the external pressed liquid of retaining ring has the advantages of easy control, strong versatility, compact structure, high forming precision and low reject rate. Therefore, the hydraulic bulge with the external pressed liquid has become the main method to strengthen the large retaining ring at the present stage. The process of hydraulic bulge with the external pressed liquid is affected by many factors. It is easy to form the shape defect in the forming process of retaining ring, so it is very important to control the various parameters in the bulging process of retaining ring. In this paper, the finite element simulation method is used to study the function of each parameter, and then select the best parameter value to form a high quality retaining ring. The previous finite element simulation model of hydraulic bulge with the external pressed liquid of retaining ring has been further improved. The mould is introduced in the process of retaining ring forming. The purpose is to make hydraulic bulge with the external pressed liquid of retaining ring to be more close to the real condition, and the simulation result is more reliable.The finite element software ABAQUS is used to simulate the bulging process of the retaining ring. First, the finite element model of hydraulic bulge with the external pressed liquid of retaining ring is established. Through the simulation, finally obtains the most reasonable mold angle of retaining ring and the matching curve of mould pressure with the liquid bulging pressure.After obtaining the main parameters, we have simulated and analyzed the influence of the friction coefficient, the slope width and the height of resistance ring in the process of hydraulic bulge with the external pressed liquid of retaining ring. The most reasonable parameter values are obtained through the finite element simulation. Finally, we have bulged the best shape retaining ring combined with the reasonable parameter values.
