Hindered amine light stabilizers(HALS) are one of the most important thermal/light stabilizing agents of polymeric materials due to their excellent compatibilities and photo-stabilization effect on organic materials. The synthetic technologies of hindered amine light stabilizers 5529 and 5513 were established in this paper. Through deeply systematic research, domestic technical difficulties in hindered amine light stabilizers 5529 industrial production in taking off impurities and decolorization have been resolved, establishing the production technology of high quality 5529 and conducting industrial production practice.Based on the investigation of the transesterification between dimethyl sebacateand and 1,2,2,6,6-pentamethyl-4-piperinol, the synthetic technologies of Solvent method and free solvent method were established in the second chapter. The hindered amine light stabilizers 5529 were obtained in the yield of97.9% and 97.6% respectively and qualified as the advanced level of the kindred overseas products.In the third chapter, the synthetic technology of 5513 was studied and established. Using Bis(2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-piperidinyl) sebacate and Octane as the starting material, the product was synthesized successfully through one step reaction in yield of 97.6%. This technology of 5513 is self-developed, which filled the void of domestic industry.In the fourth chapter, based on the above laboratory test, Solvent method and free solvent method for the preparation of 5529 is studied, and high quality 5529 are prepared. The results of these study show that the catalyst selection, reaction time, material ratio and temperature had significant effects on the on the quality of products. By comparing this two process, we select the solvent method as the 5529 production process, because it is simpler and have better economy.In the fifth chapter, the solvent method preparation manufacturing process of hindered amine light stabilizers 5529 is investigated. The main problems solved in this chapter are as follows: Process parameters, production process in industrial production are optimized, a production process of 5529 with annual output of 1000 tons is achieved, and the indexes of products achieved and even exceed corresponding foreign product standards. Moreover, the economic benefits of industrial production of 5529 are comprehensive analyzed. Through the industrialization of the project practice, reversed the situation of such products of our country dependent on imported, realized the high quality 5529 product localization, and enhanced enterprise’s core competitiveness of our country.
