As an essential device in coal face, it is crucial for scraper conveyer to keep the safe and reliable operation. Based on the factory detection and inspection specifications of scraper conveyer in national and coal industrial, this paper develop a virtual instrument of scraper conveyer performance test, and bring out the error analysis and performance test. This device will contribute a lot to test and evaluate the performance of scraper conveyer as well as ensure the security of coalmine. Following are the main points:(1) The test methods for power, scraper chain speed, noise, static tensile elongation of the round-link chain and other major parameters are determined based on research and analysis of the major performance parameters of the scraper conveyor and the principles of measurement.The sensors required for testing of the scraper conveyor are selected and the test methods are determined based on the actual conditions. USB6221 produced by N1 is chosen as the data acquisition equipment; the corresponding signal conditioning circuit has been designed and the USB-based portable virtual instrument hardware platform is built.An automatic test device based on single-chip microcomputer has been designed and developed to test static characteristics of the round-link chain, and this device can both operate independently and work in parallel with the master and slave computer.(2) The software for testing overall performance of the scraper conveyor has been designed and developed with LabVIEW as the software development platform, thereby realizing the testing of power of both the head and the tail motor, scraper chain speed, operating noise and other parameters as well as achieving such functions as processing, storage and management of the test data and report generation. Programs for communication with the slave computer, and calculation and analysis as well as storage and display of the measurement data have been written. In addition, the C programming language is utilized to write the programs for round-link chain performance test and communication with the master computer.(3) The various errors of the virtual instrument, the causes and the correction methods are also analyzed and the hardware and software errors of the test device have been corrected. Static characteristics of the virtual instrument used for performance test of the scraper conveyor have been analyzed and experimental verification of its functions has also been conducted.The results show that the virtual instrument for scraper conveyor performance test as analyzed and developed in this paper can satisfy the functional requirements of scraper conveyor performance test and has such advantages over the conventional testing methods as higher degree of automation, higher efficiency and higher accuracy.
