The percentage of tendency of coal spontaneous combustion in coal mine of our country is high. The poisonous gas from spontaneous combustion causes the harm to healthy of coal miners. Many coal resources and coal mine equipment were damaged even caused coal mine shut down because of spontaneous combustion. The coal seam spontaneous combustion around roadway accounts for a large part of coal spontaneous, especially in sub-level caving mining. The statistics show that the roadway spontaneous fire accounts for about 50 percent of the coal mine spontaneous fire. The proportion has reached more than 60 percent with non-coal pillar mining, especially the fully mechanized caving applied wildly. The roadway spontaneous fire affects the safety of mining work seriously.The fly ash gel on fire prevention and extinguishment was developed mainly in this paper possesses high water retention, non-toxic, harmless, replace ability, low cost, etc. The gel applies to filling roadway and high temperature site.In this paper, the main technical index of fly ash gel on fire prevention and extinguishment was developed. The technical index and effect on field application of two types of gel were compared, by taking fly ash and foaming cement as aggregate. The best ratio was determined. The main research contents include that(1) the development and performance test of the gel;(2) the microscopic research of the gel;(3) the replace ability research of the gel. The gel was analyzed and tested a lot through lab. The gel was tested with different ratio designed by the orthogonal list. The viscosity and water retention rate were calculated. The conclusion that the performance of fly ash gel is better than foaming cement gel was concluded. The best ratio of the fly ash gel on fire prevention and extinguishment is that the ash water ratio is 3:4, the thickener is 0.75%, and the gelling agent is 0.875%.The gel was tested in site at Jinggezhuang coal mine, which achieved remarkable effect. The ratio of fly ash gel on prevention and extinguishment is appropriate, the technical process is simple. And it has good filling effect. The gel is worth to spread widely and low cost, which possesses well value in use.
