With the progress of social civilization, energy-saving idea and environmentprotecting awareness is gradually popular, more and more people began to focus on the issues about living environment, electromagnetic pollution and power quality. The state has also promulgated laws and regulations against some aspects of the electronic device, such as the harmonic pollution, power factor, power efficiency, and so on. So, how to improve the electricity rates and the power factor of electrical equipment has become a big problem for the technology researchers. Basing on the modern electronic information technology and modern intelligent control technology to realize an Automatic and intelligent compensation system which precisely and stepping compensate the power factor becomes the main research goal of this paper.The Paper begins with a description of the subject research’s content and significance, it introduces some concepts and technical principles of the power factor compensation, and then makes some necessary arguments for the system realization scheme, which mainly discusses the whole design progress of the circuit realization, and provides the design idea of software system and the flow charts of the key technologies. At last, the paper makes analysis for the test results of the model machine, and puts forward some improvement measures for the problems about the existence of over-current protection, repeatedly harmonic wave interference and the system responding speed.The design uses STC MCU intelligent control technology to achieve the detection, display and intelligent compensation of the power network’s voltage, current, frequency, active power, reactive power and power factor. The system uses LM324 integrated operational amplifier to form the signal modulation circuit and gets samples and disposes of the voltage and current signals, and finishes the collection and monitoring of power factor after the Single- Chip microcomputers monitor the signal on the secondary side of the transformer and current phase difference, and through the Neuron PID algorithm’s fast and floating control of the compensating capacitor banks, it realizes its tracking automatically detection function and precisely stepping compensation function. Also, the system designed LC filter and effectively avoided the interference of harmonic current, the Closed-loop Intelligent Control System and self-organization learning Neuron PID algorithm ensures that the system has a strong ant-jamming capability, and makes that the power factor compensation effect reaches 0.95 above, which has a certain reference value and market application prospects on the aspects of power transmission and users’ energy-saving.
