As we all know, the traditional combustion of coal due to high energy consumption, low efficiency and big pollutions has been far from the needs of development. In order to guarantee the sustainable development of national economy, we must change the traditional combustion and seek new efficient alternative energy sources.High volatile carbonaceous fuels due to the advantages of high gasification efficiency and less pollutant emissions are increasingly attracted people’s attention. The high volatile carbonaceous fuel mainly divided into three categories: low rank coal, biomass fuel and RDF. In this paper, several common high volatile fuels were studied through the method of combine theoretical analysis and experimental analysis in the process of pyrolysis and Gasification.Firstly, an equilibrium calculation of shenhua coal and RDF in the process of gasification was conducted to analyze the effects of air coal ratio, steam coal ratio and ash content on the main gasification technical index. Meanwhile, pyrolysis research of RDF was made through thermogravimetric- infrared analysis. TG curve, DTG curve, FT-IR curve and infrared spectra 3D figure of gas were analyzed to obtain the pyrolysis properties. The results show that, the components of RDF is complexly, it’s pyrolysis occurs in a wide range of temperature and presents stages of change. The effect of heating rate on the total weight loss rate is not significantly; The reaction order of RDF is 1 in the main pyrolysis zone(175℃-600℃). The higher the heating rate, the greater the activation energy and the pyrolysis become more inadequate.Secondly, in order to investigate the pyrolysis characteristic of RDF, a series of experiments were carried out in an external heating fixed-bed reactor at different pyrolysis temperatures. The results show that the major constituent of pyrolysis gas is CO2, CO, CH4,H2 and macromolecular hydrocarbon(CnHm), the main components of pyrolytic carbon is ash( 72%- 84%). Pyrolysis temperature has a significant influence on the yield rate of pyrolysis gas, in contrast to the fixed-carbon.The maximum rate of pyrolysis oil is 16.68% at 600℃ and then decreased with the increase of final temperature.Lastly, a universal gas tar sampling testing system for high volatile carbonaceous fuel was invented by my vise tutor, and it was used to test the content of tar in the process of biomass gasification in Rizhao. It was the fisrt time to validate the effect of calcium oxide on tar catalytic cracking in commercial scale experimental equipment in china.
