With the power electronics technology and computer technology are using in power system, the automation level of power grid production and operation maintenance is becoming higher in China, proposing the professional theory and technical level of employees in power grid operation. Relay protection and automation device is an important part in the safe and stable operation of power grid, and guarantee the electrical equipments safe key means and methods. So how to quickly improve the level of power grid operation maintenance technical employees to adapt the power grid automation is an important part of development of power grid. At present, the front-line workers propose the theoretical and technical training mainly through enterprise internal training by organizing experts explaining and electric Power University organizing the theory of training. Production field is mainly using "teach、help and lead" mode to train the new employees in the real work. But all of them have some limitations, taking not into account the comprehensive development theory, practice and technology, formation of the training results are not satisfactory. So, in order to adapt to the rapid development of power system, urgently need to establish a complete set of system of power system relay protection and automation operations staff training system. The system should include basic theory study, practical operation and power system the content of the frontier technology overview, etc. While the front-line workers studying theories, also knowing the development direction of the electric power system and the possibility of new technology.The system simulates the power system running state, realizing implementation of seamless connection of primary system and the secondary system, composing the digital physical hybrid simulation, the electromagnetic transient simulation for training, embedded simulation, and virtual reality simulation technology, improving the quality of training result in this paper. This system based on digital simulation tools, cooperating with corresponding grid operation of secondary equipment relay protection device. Automatic device, stand side monitoring system and dispatching and monitoring system and device(or system), simulating primary systems failure, secondary equipment failure and exception, switching operation and accident treatment, etc, front-line workers can quickly improve professional technology level. At the same time can also be on the basis of this system to carry out the production skill appraisal, competition and equipment net test, etc.
