With the rapid development of transport, the demand of all kinds of shaft parts grows with each passing day, lightweight technology is an important development direction of automobile parts manufacturing, in the premise of ensuring sufficient strength, the thin-walled and hollow parts is the main way to realize the lightweight of automobile. The demand of variable diameter and variable cross-section of the shaft parts is also increasing in the automotive industry, and so with its mechanical properties and mechanical properties. Automotive axle housing tube as a represent of variable cross-section hollow shaft parts with equal inner diameter, it is a key based security component connected with the rear wheel and the rear axle of the automobile, its quality directly decides the vehicle driving safety and reliability. Cross wedge rolling technology has been widely used in the forming of axle parts with its high efficiency, material saving, good comprehensive mechanical product performance and other advantages.Based on the variable cross-section part of automotive axle housing tube with equal inner diameter and the feasibility of condition theoretical analysis of wedge rolling hollow axle finite element model, we use the Pro/E software as modeling tool and use the large finite element method software DEFORM-3D to build finite-element model of the wedge cross rolling on automotive axle housing tube with equal inner diameter axle. After the simulation analysis of the forming process, the stress and strain field, temperature field of rolled piece and variation of metal flowing was studied, the forming mechanism of the cross wedge rolling of variable cross-section of the inner diameter of the hollow shaft was obtained. According to the macro forming characteristics of hollow shaft parts and microstructure evolution of 40 Cr material, research on the influence of the evolution of the ovality and the microstructure of the process parameters, get the optimum process parameters of the cross wedge rolling of variable cross-section of diameter hollow shafts, forming angle is 40°, spreading angle is 3°, rolled piece temperature is 950℃, original relative wall thickness is 0.625. In this paper, through two aspects of theory and experiment research and the combination of the results of the simulation, and the wedge rolling hollow axle into the experimental verification, the feasibility of the results on cross wedge rolling of variable cross-section of the hollow shaft with equal inner diameter is feasible.In this paper, with the study of cross wedge rolling of forming variable cross-section part of automotive axle housing tube with equal inner diameter axle, the foundation of mass production and specialization on the cross wedge rolling of forming automotive axle housing tube with equal inner diameter axle was established.
