The substation has become an important part in the modern power system.With the voltage level of substation continue rising, the number of substations increasing,new technology and the new management method is constantly applied in the power system. Modern power grid has already entered a new era of high voltage,long-distance transmission, large capacity and high degree of automation.Digital substation is the early form of smart substation, and which has already been put into use in Shanghai power grid.Electronic instrument transformer is an important part In the digital substation,so it becomes very important for us to focus on the management and research of electronic instrument transformer.This paper mainly include the following aspects:(1), Researching in the theory of traditional transformer and electronic instrument transformer, analyzing not only the advantages and disadvantages between the traditional transformer and electronic instrument transformer in working principle,structure, but also what we should pay attention to in practical application. Pointing out the necessity that electronic instrument transformer should be used in the power grid in the coming future.(2), Analyzing the necessity that the digital substation must be applied in practice on the basis of the development process of power system.
