In order to develop a clean renewable energy to ease the energy crisis and environmental pollution in today’s world, because of the characteristics of high yield and low pollution, rice husk as one of the biomass has become the focus of people’s research. And biomass-pyrolysis technology is one of the most advanced technology to process rice husk biomass. Some researchers studied of pyro lysis characteristics by changing conditions of the reaction, such as temperature, pressure, heating rate, etc. But these conditions are not easy to change. In order to improve the efficiency of the pyro lysis, some scholars tried to add the catalyst in the rice husk, such as metallic compound. Based on the above background, this paper had carried out extensive research on the catalytic pyrolysis of the rice husk.In this paper, the type of rice husk is produced by No.5 rice in Hubei. First, the physical properties, industrial analysis and elemental analysis of different grain sizes were investigated to compare with other varieties of rice husk and other representative biomass materials. Physical characteristics include the mobility, the compression ratio, etc. Secondly, the pyrolysis characteristics of rice husk under different heating rates were investigated. By studying on the TG and DTG curve, the effects of particle size and heating rate on the weight loss, weight loss rate and the temperature range of organic matter pyrolysis were discussed. Then determine the mechanism function of the pyrolysis reaction according to the C-R integral and double extrapolation.The activation energy and pre-exponential factor of pyrolysis of rice husk were calculated. Thirdly, apply 8 kinds of metal compounds into the paralytic reaction and these metal compounds are classified into alkali metal, alkaline earth metal, transition metal and other metal. The effects of different metals on the weight loss, the rate of weight loss and activation energy of the pyrolysis were investigated. Each type of metal compounds which had the best catalytic effect was selected.In order to further investigate the effect of catalyst on the solid products and gas products, the catalytic pyrolysis was researched in fixed bed reactor. The effects of different metals compounds on the yield of biomass carbon were studied at 400,500,600 and 700 respectively. Then the fixed bed reactor is connected with gas chromatography. Study on the change of the productivity of H2,CH4 and CO with temperature.Then the effect of catalyst on the yield of the three kinds of gases was investigated.
