Skin stretch (SS) is using the expansion of skin linear to increase the area of the skin for repairing skin defect (SD). Skin stretch has proven to be an effective treatment for skin defects, but the skin stretch requires specific skin stretching device (SSD) to be implemented successfully. Although many skin stretching surgery equipment developed by people, but too shortcomings limit clinical application of skin stretch. We design a simple and easy to used skin continual-stretching device (SCSD). Our experiments show this continuous skin stretching device can be used in the treatment of skin defect and help the closure of skin in early stage. This device can be easy used in the treatment of skin defects and shows good prospects.Part1:The design of a novel continuous skin stretching deviceObjective:To design a novel skin continual-stretching device. Methods:The novel continuous skin stretching device was made of high-strength stainless steel (HSSS) for medical. Results:The continuous skin stretching device’s every parts meet the requirements of design, the connection of each part is reliable, and there is good stability of the whole skin stretch device. Conclusion:The deficiencies of the previous skin stretching device were overcome. The skin stretching device was operated easy and it’s structure is compact, it comply with the trends of the skin stretching device. Part2:The study of a novel skin continual-stretching device for enhancement of skin healingObjective:To investigate the feasibility and effects of a continued skin stretching device the treatment of skin defects. Methods:Totally six pigs were used in this study. Two back skin defects were prepared in each of the six pigs, and twelve skin defects model (SDM) were got. All the defects were divided into two groups:eight defects in the experimental group (EG) and four in the control group (CG). The area of each defect was10cm×6cm. In the experimental group, the skin defects were treated by the skin stretching device. In the control group, the defects were left by itself. Results:Five-six days later, the defects in the experimental group could be closed by the application of this continuous skin stretching device. And the skin wound could be sealed at the secondary stage. However, the defects in the control group could not be closed after one week. A big skin gap still could be found in the wound. Conclusion:This continuous skin stretching device can be used in the treatment of skin defect and help the closure of skin in early stage. With its feasibility, this device can be easy used in the treatment of skin defects and shows good prospects.
