| Objective: To assess the impact of tranexamic acid on the hidden blood loss afterfemoral shaft fracture treated with closed reduction and intramedullary nail fixation. Methods: Totally60patients who received unilateral intramedullary nail fixation due tofemoral shaft fracture were randomly divided into two groups.Group A included30cases with tranexamic acid, and the patients in this group were given20mgï¼kgtranexamic acid with250ml normal5%glucose solution when the surgery startedï¼›Group B included30cases without tranexamic acid,in which the patients were just ven250ml normal5%glucose solution when the surgery started. The total red blood cellloss, visible red blood cell loss and hidden red blood cell loss of the two groups weremeasured and the comparative analysis was conducted. Results: Results of the visible red blood losses in group A and group B were(50.23±16.81)ml and(158.84±15.04)ml,respectivelyï¼›the hidden red blood loss in groupA and group B were(100.37±57.69) ml and (369.89±58.50)ml,respectively.The visible and hidden red blood cell losses in group B were both significantly less thanthose in group A(P<0.05).Conclusions: Tranexamic acid reduces both the visible and hidden red blood loss afterthe intramedullary nail fixation.... |
