Research On The Quality Of Disabled Elderly People’s Life In Dali Bai Nationality Areas

[Objective]Understanding the population’s characteristics of quality of disabled elderlypeople’s life in dali bai nationality area, to further explore the factors of quality ofdisabled elderly people’s life.[Method]According to the different economic levels of income, Dali County, Eryuan County,Yunlong County, Heqing County and Jianchuan County are choosed which are locatedin Dali bai nationality area as survey areas. The volunteers for the survey who are60and older, disability diagnosed by professional medical organizations, holding adisability certificate issued by the relevant departments, residents living in Dali arethe research objects. Using self-made general questionnaire, the disability evaluationscheme of the world health organization (WHO), the world health organizationquality of life questionnaire (WHOQOL-DIS) and life satisfaction scale to survey theresearch objects. The main contents of this study include basic information of theparticipants and their families, degree of disability of the elderly disabled people, thequality of life scores of investigation object and their life satisfaction. Quality of lifeis the dependent variable and independent variables are home address, age, gender,ethnic, cultural degree, marital status, occupation, living and social support, healthstatus, type of disability, income and other variables in "general situationquestionnaire" and the disability assessment program made by the world healthorganization(WHO) to assess the degree of disability and life satisfaction. Thesurvey are checked by EpiData software3.1in double data, using the SPSS16.0statistical software to analyze the survey data. The main statistical methods are t test,analysis of variance(ANOVA), X2test and multiple linear regression. [Results]1.The survey was conducted in15villages from five cities (counties), a total of300disabled elderly people.300questionnaires were issued and all of them were takenback,293questionnaires were effective, the rate of recover and efficiency arerespective100.00%and97.67%.2. The reliability and validity of the questionnaires: The correlation coefficient ofquality of life each domain and the total score is between0.592to0.810, thecoefficient of Cronbach α is0.878. The value of KMO by factor analysis is0.851, andthe value of Bartlett ’s spherical test has statistical significance(χ2=787.792,P<0.05).3.Social demographic characteristics of respondents as follows: age are mainlyconcentrated in the age of60to69years old (73.0%), the majority are married people.Bai minorities accounts for84.7%, the other minorities accounts for15.3%.Thecultural level of surveyed people is general low.4.The scores in the field of physiological, psychological, social relations, environment,disability score module and the total quality of life scores in Dali bai nationality areasare respective12.09±2.89、12.09±2.93、10.76±3.07、11.80±2.99、12.09±2.89、58.93±11.98.5. Compared the disability score between the various survey sites, the difference hasnot statistical significance(P>0.05). Compared the life satisfaction score, thedifference has statistical significance (P <0.05).6.The results of quality of life in different demographic characteristics groups:(1) The results of every field: compared scores of the different investigation areas,gender, age, living and social support, job, health, disability influence, marital status,educational level, the degree of disability explicit, the types of disabilities, disabilitytime, income and life satisfaction, has statistical significance(P<0.05);(2) Compared total scores of the different investigation areas, age, living and socialsupport, job, health, disability influence, marital status, educational level, degree ofdisability explicit, the types of disabilities, income and life satisfaction, has statisticalsignificance (P<0.05).7. Consider every field score and total score of quality life as the dependent variableby the multivariate linear regression analysis shows that： （1）The factors that affect the physical domain score are income, investigation,disability score, life satisfaction, health and disability types;（2）The factors that affect the psychological domain score are living and socialsupport situation, investigation area, disability score, life satisfaction and health;（3）The factors that influence the score of social relations are educational level,marital status, disability score and life satisfaction;（4）The factors that influence the score of environment are income, living and socialsupport, marital status, investigation area, disability time, score and life satisfaction;（5）The factors that affect the scores of disabled module are income, educationallevel, living and social support situation, the investigation area, the working condition,disability score, life satisfaction, health and disability types;（6）The factors that affect the total score of quality of life are income, educationallevel, living and social support situation, investigation area, disability score, lifesatisfaction and health.[Conclusion]1. The scale of quality of life has good reliability,validity and acceptability.2. The mean score of quality of life is58.93, the level of quality is in general aspercentile count.3. The disability score are nearly during five point survey areas,and the lifesatisfaction score of Dali County is the higher than other places.4. The suvery object with better economic situation, the higher the income level, thehigher the education level, the younger, workers, poor health status, longer time ofdisability, higher life satisfaction and lower disability scores had better quality oflife; quality of life for men are better than women, married people are better thanother people, the score with physical disabilities group is higher than other typesof disability groups, living in good condition, no need for the community supporthave a higher quality of life.5. The main factors of each area of quality of life survey scores and the totalscores is the disability score and life satisfaction, the lower disability score, thehigher life satisfaction;the higher life satisfaction score, the higher their quality of life one.
