Objective:The research aims at discovering the effect of fire needle therapy and tends to serve datas for medical research on fire needle. Methods:This study is a prospective randomized controlled trial research methods, the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture and orthopedics will be collected from July2013to February2013to meet the diagnostic criteria included in the standard knee osteoarthritis60cases as an object of study, and by a random number table, subjects were divided into treatment group and control group, the treat group30cases in the control group30cases. Treat group to fire needle therapy, acupuncture points are Heding(Ex-LE), Xiyan (Ex-LE05), Xiyangguan(GB33), Shenshu (BL23), Minmen (DU4), Yaoyangguan(DU3), among them, Xiyan are supposed to deeply sticked to38-40mm, Heding20-25mm, the therapy is applied once a week and lasts for4weeks in all the course; control group to electronic needle use the same points, depth and course with the treatment group. Both groups were recorded by chosen scales as VASã€KSS and Lysholm before and after the therapy. Evaluation of effect, tolerance and safety will be measured and discussed.Results:1. Basic data:Two groups of60patients had neither significant difference in age and the course of disease (p>0.05) nor the gender of each group (Χ2>0.05).The two groups were comparable.2. Pain evaluation:before the therapy, the average scores of treatment group are5.57±1.70, control group4.97±1.56, the two were comparable (p>0.05); after the therapy, treatment group scores2.28±1.27, control group2.78±1.42; differences in the2single group and between them are significant (p<0.01). Effect of pain releasing, treatment group is100%, while control group is70%. The result indicates that both of the method is effective in releasing the knee osteoarthritis pain, and the fire needle group has significant advantage compared with the electronic group(p<0.01)3. Effect evaluation:Lysholm:scores before and after the therapy and D-value are50.37±26.22,70.3±22.41,19.93±9.74, control group is60.07±10.26,73.3±27.37,13.23±5.78; KSS scores:before and after the therapy and D-value are130.30±40.92,162.40±31.64,32.53±15.41, while control group is132.07±38.16,153.17±39.63,21.1±9.50. Before the therapy two groups were comparable (p>0.05).Comparing the Lysholm and KSS scales for treatment and control groups in discovering effects before and after the therapy and.difference in the teams is significant;after the therapy.differences of scores of the two scales and D-value are significant (p<0.01). The result indicates that both of the method is effective. The treatment group has significant advantage compared with the control group (p<0.01).In Lysholm scale, climb stairs, swollen, crouch, walk areevaluated. Scores before and D-value of the treatment group are4.53±2.96,4.67±4.48,2.47±1.78,33.67±12.51;2.80±2.10,3.40±3.10,0.93±1.06,8.33±4.53. Corre sponding scores in control group are4.40±2.80,4.33±3.35,3.30±1.51,33.33±10.43;1.20±1.83,1.53±1.98,0.07±0.36,4.67±5.62. Two groups are comparable between the therapy (p>0.05). After the therapy4items have significant differences (p<0.01), that indicates treatment group is more effective.KSS scale concludes syndromes evaluation and function evaluation. D-value of the treatment group are16.60±9.62,15.93±8.63; while control group are10.83±5.30,10.27±5.35. The treatment group has significant advantage compared with the control group (p<0.01).4. Secure evaluation:one patient of the treatment group suffered from wound festered. Two patients in the control group suffered from allergy. Neither of them suffered from sustained severe reaction.5. Tolerance evaluation:treatment group is62.11±19.42;control group is69.21±11.74(p>0.05), no obvious difference is found between the two groups. 6. Popular factors evaluation:age might be a positive correlation with KOA pain. Female tend to face greater chances of KOA pain than the male. Course of the disease might have no obvious relationship with KOA pain. Conclusion:Fire needle therapy is more effective compared with the electronic therapy for the knee osteoarthritis patients. |
