| Objective To discuss the relationship between the survival rate ofintrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma after surgery and hepatitis B virusinfection. Methods Clinical and pathological data were collected retrospectivelyfrom40patients who underwent surgery for ICC between2007and2010,at The First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University. Thesepatients were divided into group A with HBV infection, represented by allserum marker of HBV negative, group B with hepatitis B surfaceantibody(HBsAb) positive, and group C with serum hepatitis B surfaceantigen(HBsAg) or core antibody(HbcAb) positive. The overall survivalrate was evaluated. Results The overall1-and3-year survival rates were20%vs45.5%vs50%and0vs9.1%vs12.5%, respectively. The median survival timewere4months vs11months vs11months, respectively. The differencewas statistically significant (P=0.011). Multivariate analyses revealed thatHBV infection or injection of hepatitis B vaccine prior to surgery, adjuvantchemotherapy were related to the prognosis. Conclusions HBV infection or injection of hepatitis B vaccine prior tosurgery was associated with improved survival time in patients whounderwent surgery for ICC. |
