Objectives This study used motivational interviewing(MI) intervention and aimed to exploring its application feasibility and applicability in high risk sexual behavior prevention among men who have sex with men(MSM); Assessing the MI intevention effects on improving MSM’s HIV-related knowledge, attitude, increase the rate of condom use and rate of automatic for HIV testing.Methods Using clinical randomized controlled study,80MSM who had high-risk sexual behavior in the last3months were selected, and divided randomly into intervention group and control group, control group only accept gay community part of routine health promotion measures and peer education community outreach interventions; Intervention group on the basis of the accepted by the interviewer to carry out the combination of the theoretical basis of motivation interviews across the stage,3months3interview, interview time40-90minutes at a time. Before and after the intervention of2groups of HIV related knowledge attitude, evaluate the frequency of condom use, HIV related detection rate. Data collection used questionnaire survey method, including general situation questionnaire, HIV basic knowledge questionnaire, sexual behavior and HIV related questionnaire.Results65people complete3months of follow-up,29from the control group,36from the intervention group,15people lost to follow-up during the follow-up period.(1) After the intervention, two groups’average awareness rate are better than pre-intervention (control group:χ2=3.507, P=0.042, intervention group:χ2=3.429, P=0.044), but there has no significant difference(χ2=0.011, P=0.918).The difference between two groups occurred on "People who have HIV-infected can live as a patient with chronic disease."(χ2=0.753, P=0.047) and "HIV infected means death."(χ2=3.837, P=0.048);(2) The two groups after the intervention, have a significant difference of anal condom use frequency (Z=-3.436, P=0.001); Within the group, The " use condoms for every time " frequency of intervention group increased after intervention (Z=-2.253, P=0.024).(3) After the intervention, the oral sex condoms use frequency of two groups has no significant difference (Z=-0.881, P=0.379).(4) After the intervention, the rate of " I were improved awareness "of two groups was higher than pre-intervention(control group: χ2=3.725, P=0.047, intervention group:χ2=7.784, P=0.005), but no obvious difference (χ2=1.342, P=0.218); Two groups’rate of" Will for HTV testing " has no obvious difference χ2=2.495, P=0.121)Conclusions (1) MI can improve the HIV related cognition and attitude of MSM;(2) MI can raise the anal condom use frequency;(3) MI can raise MSM focus on whether if they got HIV infect;(4) MI model is a feasible intervention in preventing MSM high risk sexual behavior.
