Objective: To explore the frequency of anxiety and depression among the acute stroke inpatients in neurology department. To assess the socio-dempgraphic distribution of anxiety and depression and to determine the effects of the acute stroke inpatients related factors on development of anxiety and depression.Methods:Select the acute stroke inpatients during June2013to December2013in neurology department in The Third Xiangya Hospital of Central South University in Changsha city of Hunan province as the research object, survey all the eligible patients by using self-made general questionnaire, Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) and Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS).Results:1.211questionnaires were effective in the study. The men and women were each accounted for55.5%and44.5%; Professional was given priority to farmers (30.3%)and institution officers(27.0%); Education for elementary school, junior high school, high school/secondary following, college degree or above each accounted for26.1%,32.2%,24.6%and32.2%; Marital status was given a majority priority to married(81.0%); Economy of enerally was accounted for5.5%; Medical insurance types of the provinces and cities, new agricultural and health care, other medical care no medical care patients each accounted for30.3%,32.2%,23.7%and30.3%.2. In the type of stroke, hemorrhagic stroke and ischemic stroke each accounted for43.6%and56.4%; In the injury of stroke, the left side of the brain injury, the right side of the brain injury and brain injury on both sides each accounted for28.4%,28.4%and25.6%; the duration of<30days,30-180days,>180days of patients each accounted for52.6%,27.5% and27.5%; The neurologic deficits of mild, moderate and severe accounted for46.4%,17.1%and17.1%; Patients with hemiplegia accounted for46.4%; Admission was given priority to with2-4times, accounting for53.1%.3. The incidence of anxiety was24.5%(52/211),23cases of mild anxiety (10.9%),11cases were moderate anxiety (5.2%),18severe anxiety (8.5%); The incidence of depression was20.9%(44/211),24cases of mild depression (11.4%),11cases of moderate depression (5.2%),9cases of major depression (4.3%).4. Gender, age, economic status, and admission were the influence factors of acute stroke inpatients with anxiety symptoms in neurology department; Gender, marital status, health care type and the presence of hemiplegia were the risk factors of the acute stroke inpatients depression symptoms in neurology department.Conclusions:1. The incidence of anxiety was24.5%(52/211),23cases of mild anxiety (10.9%),11cases were moderate anxiety (5.2%),18severe anxiety (8.5%); The incidence of depression was20.9%(44/211),24cases of mild depression (11.4%),11cases of moderate depression (5.2%),9cases of major depression (4.3%).2. Gender, age, economic status, and admission were the influence factors of acute stroke inpatients with anxiety symptoms in neurology department; Gender, marital status, health care type and the presence of hemiplegia were the risk factors of the acute stroke inpatients depression symptoms in neurology department.
