Objective To compare the efficacy of laparoscopic radicalhysterectomy (LRH) and abdominal radical hysterectomy (RAH) for thetreatment of cervical cancer. Discuss the advantage, safety, feasibility ofLRH for the treatment of cervical cancer. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on LRH for63cases of cervical cancer and RAH for74cases of cervical cancer at theFirst Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University from January2012to July2013. Patient age, stage, operative time, intraoperative bloodloss, the number of lymph node dissection, mean resected vaginal cuff, meanresected vaginal cuff, mean resected cardinal ligament length, mean resecteduterosacral ligament length, intraoperative and postoperativecomplications(including vascular injury, bowel injury, bladder injury, urinaryretention, lymphocele, incision infection),surgical outcomes. Results The operative time, number of lymph node dissection, meanresected cardinal and uterosacral ligament length were not significantly different between two groups(P>0.05).The mean operative blood loss ofLRH-group was significantly less than RAH-group(P <0.01).The vaginalresection length of LRH-group was(3.34±0.45) cm,which is greater thanRAH-group (3.17±0.36) cm, P=0.013, P <0.05.LRH-group had nowound infection and wound secondary suture, the difference wasstatistically significant(P <0.05).One bladder injury occurred in LRH-group,The urinary retention, vascular injury, bowel injury, bladder injury were notsignificantly different between two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion With less trauma and less blood loss, LRH is a safe, effective alternative to RAH, which has important clinical value for thesurgical treatment of cervical cancer.
