Objective:To surveille rotavirus(RV) genotypes among children younger than5years old from2012to2013in sentinel hospital and provide the theoretical basis for the development and application of RV vaccine.Methods:203stool specimens were collected from neonates, infants and children under5years old with diarrhea or non-diarrhea hospitalized in the Infection Pediatrics and Neonatology Department of People’s Hospital of Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region during August2012to October2013. RV was detected by ELISA.The nucleic acid was extracted from rotavirus-positive specimens. Rotavirus was further genotyped for G and P types by RT-PCR.Typed strains and nontyped strains had sequenced for VP7. The sequencing results were compared with the nucleotide sequence published in GenBank, and analyzed the homology and the epidemic variation of genotype nucleotide sequence. Results:RV positive rate was33.5%(68/203) during the surveillance. In Pediatric Infection, the rate was31.4%, and the rate was44.1%in Neonatology Department.95.5%of patients with rotavirus infection were the infants less than12months old.In Pediatric Infection G-typing showed that:G3and G9(28.3%) was predominant in Pediatric Infection, followed by G2(7.5%) and G1(5.7%), G mixed infection was up to24.5%,3was not genotyped, G4was not detected alone. In Neonatology Department, G9was the main epidemic strain. G9was detected in10neonataes (9nondiarrhea andl diarrhea),1diarrhea neonate was G9and G3mixed infection, and1nondiarrhea neonate couldn’t genotyped. P-typing showed that in Pediatric Infection, P[8](75.5%)was the main epidemic strain, followed by P[4](7.5%) and P[6](1.9%),P mixed infection was13.2%,1case wasn’t genotyped; in Neonatology Department, the main strain was P[6](72.7%),followed by2P[8],1mixed infection for P[6and[8];1diarrhea infant was deteced for P[6], three infants (1diarrhea and2nondiarrhea) for P[6+8].The most common G/P combination was G3P [8] in Pediatric Infection, followed by G9P[8];the main G/P combination was G9P[6] in Neonatology Department. The sequences analysis of VP7showed that the predominant strains G3and G9are consistent with that circulated in local place and all over the world in recent years, G9strain existed mixed infection between infants and neonates. Conclusions:Rotavirus remains the most prevalent pathogen causing diarrhea among infants and children. G3P [8] and G9P [8] became the main epidemic stains of infants and children in2012-2013.The main G/P combination of neonates was G9P [6]. RV infection mixed infant strains with neonatal strains was worthy of attention.
