PurposePain is a complex subjective feeling, and now WHO regard it as the fifth vital signs along with temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure. This article is to analyze the insufficient part of the knowledge level and attitudes towards the WHO ladder analgesic among the community doctors and standardized trainees in Shanghai and discuss the probable factors that may influence the result by making current status investigation as well as their educational needs. And by the result of the survey, we can give some advice on the improvement of the further education of analgesicMethodThis study was held in February2013by taking the entire sample from the standardized trainees in our hospital and the doctors from four community hospitals. It comes out to have total49standardized trainees and130community doctors. The questionnaire consists three parts. The first part is about the basic information of the doctors, including age, gender, education, job title, whether have the certification for anesthesia prescription and participate in the lectures in the last year, second part is the attitude to the WHO ladder analgesic and a total of31questions analgesic knowledge survey as the third part. All data of the questionnaire was collected and was carried out statistical analysis by using SPSS19.0. The main analysis of the contents include:The difference in between community doctors and standardized trainees’analgesic knowledge, mastery of each type of analgesic knowledge, what factors will impact on the mastery and so on.Results:Community doctors and standardized trainees are all far from master the knowledge analgesic(The score of the community doctors is average15.55±2.75,50%; and the standardized trainees get the score14.90±3.36,48%). Comparing to standardized trainees, Community doctors perform better in mastering the basic principle of the WHO ladder analgesic, pain evaluation, and making decisions in accurate clinical program, but their knowledge of the advanced WHO ladder analgesic is not adequate at all. Among the standardized trainees, a large number of them do not even know about it. The existing state survey also found that education, job title, and whether participate in the lectures in a year and other factors do not affect the scoring rate(p>0.05), while only age has a weak correlation with it(correlation coefficient r=-0.010)Conclusion:Community doctors and standardized trainees those who will work in community hospitals in later years are all lack of the knowledge of pain, especially in the evaluation and intervene of pain. Therefore, the re-education the knowledge of pain is still essential and urgent. And during the training, we need to emphasize the different aspect of the knowledge of pain on different doctors in order to strengthen the weak points of their knowledge.
