| objectsChildren with Functional Articulation Disorder (FAD) may lead to slurred speech which willmake children having difficulty in social interaction and also cause a range of behavioral andemotional problems. Moreover, school-age children with FAD may also cause learningdifficulties. The relationship between phenotypic and the severity of speech errors has beenreported, but there is few research about the wrong type of study and inner voice FAD phenotype.This study assessed the four children intrinsic phenotype of Functional Articulation Disorder ofthe two types of speech errors dysarthria (oral motor skills, Phonological short-term memory,vocabulary, Speeded naming ability), and analysis the relationship between them, in order toexplore relationship of speech error type and the intrinsic of FAD children and provide the basisevidence for the designing of clinical trial and the making of clinical management protocol.MethodsThe children (4to8years) who went to the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University,Guangdong Provincial Maternal and Child Health Hospital and Children’s Hospital ofGuangzhou and were finally diagnosised as FAD were selected for this study. According tospeech sound disorder examination method made by China rehabilitation research center, wedetermines which type of FAD error, the two kinds of speech errors (development type anddisorder) each5cases. Evaluation using the following methods of internal phenotype: the use ofFletcher timer test evaluation of oral motor skills of children with FAD; evaluation of FADchildren’s phonological short-term memory using verbal memory test; digital rapid automaticnaming test to assess the ability of rapid naming of children with FAD; use PPVT VocabularyTest revised (Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test, PPVT) to test and FAD children’s vocabulary.Statistical analysis was used by SPSS13.0software..ResultsIn the oral motor skills areas, there was significant difference between Delayed speechdevelopment group and disordered speech group. But there was no significant differencebetween development group and control. And there was significant difference between disordered speech group and control. there was significant difference between case group andcontrol group。In terms of short-term memory voice,there was no significant difference between developmentgroup and control, but the difference between disordered speech group and control group wassignificant.In the aspect of speeded naming, the difference between Delayed speech development group anddisordered speech group was significant (P <0.05); but there was no significant differencebetween development type group and control group. compared to disordered speech group andthe control group, the differences was significant (P <0.05).ConclusionsTwo different types of FAD children in phenotype expression is different. Four kinds of internalphenotype expression of delayed speech development children have no significant differencewith normal children. But there is significant difference about three kinds of internal phenotype(oral motor skills, phonological short-term memory and rapid naming) between disorderedspeech children and normal children. It is indicated that the treatment for different speech errortypes of FAD should be different.. |
