Astragali seu Hedysari Radix, Glycyrrhizae Radix, Atractylodis MacrocephalaeRhizoma,Codonopsis Pilosulae Radix, root or stem-leaf of Ginseng are Qi-tonifyingdrugs of tonic class Chinese medicine, they have been used for many years in ourcountry. Study found that Polysaccharides (APS, GPS, RAMPS and CPS) and saponins(GS-R and GSLS) were made from Astragali seu Hedysari Radix, Glycyrrhizae Radix,Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, Codonopsis Pilosulae Radix, root or stem-leaf ofGinseng have the effect of immune enhancement. They can enhance the immune effectof vaccine. This paper studied the immune enhancement effect of Polysaccharides (APS,GPS, RAMPS and CPS) and saponins (GS-R and GSLS) for foot and mouth diseasevaccine. Provide a reference for further research and development of traditional Chinesemedicine immune enhancer.1. Polysaccharides (APS, GPS, RAMPS and CPS) were made from Astragali seuHedysari Radix, Glycyrrhizae Radix, Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma,Codonopsis Pilosulae Radix.Purified the polysaccharides and detected the purity ofthem. Results showed that the polysaccharides contained in polysaccharides (APS, GPS,RAMPS and CPS) were89.63%,90.08%,82.5%and84.8%respectively.2. Six herbal extracts enhanced the responses of specific IgG and the subclasses(IgG1, IgG2a, IgG2b, IgG3) at different levels. The animals administered GSLS (0.5mg), APS (25mg) and GPS (25mg) were found to have IgG titers1:640,1:640and1:320, respectively, which were8or4folds of the control (1:80) with significantdifference (P<0.05).3. To investigate the effect of oral administration of GSLS (0.5mg/d) and APS (25mg/d) on the nonspecific immunity function in mice. Results showed that the animalsadministered GSLS (0.5mg) and APS (25mg) can increase splenocyte proliferativeresponses to ConA, LPS. Administered with GSLS (0.5mg) and APS (25mg) was significantly difference compared with the control group (P <0.05) in the eighth andfifteenth day. And there was no significant difference between the two groups (P <0.05).Above all, oral administration of six herbal extracts (APS, GPS, RAMPS, CPS,GSLS and GS-R) can enhanced the responses of specific IgG in different levels. Andthe effect was best oral administration of the APS, GPS and GSLS. The titers of the IgGwere8or4folds of the control with significant difference (P<0.05). They can enhancethe responses of specific subclasses (IgG1, IgG2a, IgG2b, IgG3) at different levels. Oraladministration of GSLS (0.5mg/d) and APS (25mg/d) can significantly improve thenonspecific immunity function in mice (P<0.05).
