| PURPOSEThe purpose of this study was to measure the faciolingual inclination for allteeth,to found the normal range of the faciolingual inclination of each whole tooth inChinese adults and to compare the difference of the faciolingual inclination of wholetooth including roots and current crown faciolingual inclinations by cone beamcomputed tomography(CBCT), which might provide certain reference for clinicalapplication.METHODSOral and maxillofacial CBCT data of10adults with near-normal occlusion,(age23.22±3.18years old) were collected. Dolphin3D software and Simplant pro11.04software were used to measure faciolingual inclinations of each whole tooth. All thedata were analyzed by SPSS v19.0software package. Paired-samples t test was usedto analyze differences between left and right tooth in each method, and correlationanalysis was used to compare the two software.RESULTS1. The results of Dolphin3D software showed that the maxillary inclinations wasthe highest at30.38±4.15°for the central incisors, decreased to3.45±3.09°at thefirst molars, which were near perpendicular to occlusal plane, and then increased for the second molars. The mandibular inclinations was the highest at26.69±3.28°forthe central incisors, and decreased to the lowest at-14.30±5.52°for second molars.2. The results of Simplant pro software showed the same trend as those of Dolphin3D software, the maxillary and mandibular inclinations were highest at centralincisors(26.81±3.30°;23.51±3.98°);maxillary lowest was at the secondpremolars(3.59±3.77°),mandibular lowest was at the second molars(-11.48±7.14°)3. The correlation analysis show the results of2software were highly related exceptthe molars.CONCLUSIONSCompared with the current crown torque, faciolingual inclination of the whole toothmeasured by CBCT was more effective to describe the proper position of the teeth inthe arch.The average faciolingual inclinations for each whole tooth were obtained inthis research. The distinctive trend of the faciolingual inclinations for each tooth wasfound, and was showed as exactly the same by2software. |
