Objective To evaluate and analyze the related factors of islet β cell function in newly-diagnosed type 2 diabetics in order to provinde reference for clinical management. Methods Oral glucose tolerance test(OGTT) and insulin releasing test were carried out in four hundred and fourteen patients with newly-diagnosed type 2 diabetes(2-DM) and one hundred and forty three normal glucose tolerance subjects(NGT),then Homa-β cell function index(HBCI),△I30/△G30 and insulin area under curve(Ins AUC) were calculated. 414 patients were divided into four groups by fasting plasma glucose(FPG)、2-h plasma glucose(2h PG)、BMI and Hb A1 c.Some comparisons were done among the groups. Defined NGT as group 1(n=143).414 patients with 2-DM were devided into some groups according to FPG, 2 h PG, Hb A1 c,BMI.According to FPG: Group 2: FPG≦7.0 mmol/L(n=75); Group 3: 7.0 mmol/L<FPG≦10.0 mmol/L(n=168); Group 4 : 10.0 mmol/L<FPG≦13.0 mmol/L(n=108); Group 5 : FPG>13.0 mmol/L(n=63); According to 2 h PG: Group 2: 2h PG≦14.0mmol/L(n=103); Group 3: 14.0mmol/L<2h PG≦20.0mmol/L(n=147); Group 4 : 20.0mmol/L<2h PG≦24.0mmol/L(n=90); Group 5 : 2h PG >24.0mmol/L(n=74);According to Hb A1c: Group 2: Hb A1c≦7.0%(n=39); Group 3: 7.0%< Hb A1c≦9.0%(n=78); Group 4 : 9.0%< Hb A1c≦12.0%(n=174); Group 5 : Hb A1 c >12.0%(n=123); According to BMI: Group 2: 18.5Kg/m2≦BMI< 23Kg/m2(n=115); Group 3: 23Kg/m2≦BMI< 25Kg/m2(n=127); Group 4 : BMI≥25Kg/m2(n=172).Results ①FIns among groups: FIns gradually increased along with FPG, 2h PG and Hb A1 c, when FPG> 10 mmol / L, 2h PG> 14.0mmol L, Hb A1c> 9%, FIns declined gradully;FIns increased more significantly in obesity group(11.29±4.83 u IU/m L)(p <0.05) when compared with the other groups.②HBCI, △ I30 / △ G30 among groups:HBCI, △ I30 / △ G30 showed a progressive declined with FPG, 2h PG, Hb A1 c increased; HBCI and △ I30 / △ G30 were higher in obesity group than in over-weight and normal-weight group, but were lower in obesity group than in NGT group. ③Ins AUC among groups: Ins AUC was increased along with gradually increased FPG, 2h PG, Hb A1 c increased gradually, when FPG> 13 mmol / L, 2h PG> 14.0mmol/L and Hb A1c> 9%, Ins AUC was gradually declined; Ins AUC was higher in obese group than in other groups. Conclusion The islet β cell function is closely related of newly-diagnosed type 2 diabetic patients with the degree of hyperglycemia and BMI.And blood glucose and Hb A1 c are simple and practical indicators for reflecting islet β cell function; The islet β cell function poor in non-obese diabetic patients when compared with that in obesity ones.
