| ObjectiveTo observe the effects of 4 weeks point application with Dangguibuxue Prescription to Toronto clinical scoring system(TCSS), TCM symptoms, nerve conduction velocity and fasting plasma glucose in patients with Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy of qi deficiency and blood stasis type,so as to provide clinical theoretical and nursing basis for the treatment.Methods70 objects who diagnosed with Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy of qi deficiency and blood stasis type were recruited according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria from Hospital during March to November 2014.These patients were randomly divided into the test group (35 cases) and the control group (35 cases) in accordance with the random number table. All patients received conventional treatment and nursing, while patients in the test group received point application with Dangguibuxue Prescription (astragalus, angelica and borneol) for 4 weeks, once a day and 4 hours per day. We observed and recorded Toronto clinical scoring system, TCM symptoms, nerve conduction velocity and fasting plasma glucose were monitored before and after the intervention.Results1. Baseline ComparisonThere was no significant difference in the general condition(age,sex and height,etc),basic clinical data(medical history,medication and complication,etc) and the major effect factors of DPN(alycated hemoglobin,triglycerides,exercise time per day,etc) between groups before intervention(P>0.05).There was no significant difference in the scores of TCSS, bilateral sural sensory nerve conduction velocity(SCV) and peroneal nerve motor conduction velocity (MCV), TCM symptoms and fasting plasma glucose(FPG) (P>0.05).There was also no significant difference in the kinds of hypoglycemic agent,insulin between groups during the trial(P>0.05). It showed that the two groups were comparable.2.TCSSComparison between groups:A significant change in the global sum of TCSS in the two groups was found after 4 weeks of the intervention (P<0.05). And it was significant lower in test group. At the same time, the score of neurologic sympotoms and sensory function in test group were significant better than that in control group (P<0.05).While there was no significant difference in the score of nerve reflex between two groups(P>0.05).Comparison within group:the global sum of TCSS,the score of neurologic sympotoms and sensory function were significant lower in the test group after 4 weeks of the intervention compare with that before intervention(P<0.05). While there was no significant difference in the score of nerve reflex in two groups(P>0.05).At the same time, the score of every projects of TCSS was no significant diference in control group(P>0.05).3. TCM symptomsComparison between groups:Significant changes in limb numbness,limb pain,hand and foot chills,malaise and fatigue and the global sum of TCM symptoms in the two groups were found after 4 weeks of the intervention(P<0.05).Scores of other projects were no significant in two groups(P>0.05).Comparison within group:Scores in thirsty like drinking,feed more easily hungry, limb numbness.limb pain, malaise and fatigue and the global sum of TCM symptoms in test group after 4 weeks of the intervention were significant lower than that before intervention (P<0.05).While scores only in thirsty like drinking,feed more easily hungry and the global sum of TCM symptoms in control group after 4 weeks of the intervention were significant lower than that before intervention(P<0.05).4. Nerve Conduction Velocity (NCV)Comparison between groups:After 4 weeks of the intervention,bilateral SCV in test group were significant better than that in control group (P<0.05), while there was no significant difference in bilateral MCV (P>0.05).Comparison within group:Significant changes in bilateral SCV, left side MCV in test group were found after 4 weeks of the intervention (P<0.05).Significant changes in rigtht side SCV and left side MCV were found after 4 weeks of the intervention (P<0.05).5. Fasting plasma glucoseAfter 4 weeks of the intervention, there was no significant difference in fasting blood glucose between the test group and the control group (P>0.05). However, fasting blood glucose of the test group and the control group were decreased after 4 weeks of the intervention, and there were significant differences within group before and after the intervention (P<0.05).Conclusion1. Point application with Dangguibuxue Prescription can lower the TCSS scores of patients with Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy of qi deficiency and blood stasis type, and effectively ameliorate the neurologic sympotoms and sensory function, such as limb numbness, limb pain.2. Point application with Dangguibuxue Prescription can ameliorate the TCM symptoms of limb numbness, limb pain, hand and foot chills as well as malaise and fatigue of patients with Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy of qi deficiency and blood stasis type.3. Point application with Dangguibuxue Prescription can effectively improve the sural sensory nerve conduction velocity of patients with Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy of qi deficiency and blood stasis type, improve the function of feeling. |
