Spinal disease is a kind of common disease of the old, in our country, the incidence rate is as high as ninety-seven percent. At present, the treatment for spinal disease usually adopts the method of non-surgical at first. If the patient’s condition is severe and non-surgical method does not work, we adopt the method of surgical treatment. But because of the complexity of the human body vertebra structure, it is difficult to have accurate assessment on the procedure of operation prior to the implementation, thus it may lead to the not ideal surgery effect easily. Besides, it is difficult to evaluate the operation after surgery. In order to solve the problems existing better, the project intends to use MRI(Magnetic Resonance Imaging) image and CT image to reconstruct three dimensional model at first, then apply stress and solve by finite element method. Among them, 3 D reconstruction uses the spine pictures that are scanned layer by layer, after image resampling, dividing layer by layer, filling, filtering, processing in smoothness, the images of each layer that are combined together form the three-dimensional spine model This project constructs the young normal spine model, young lesions spine model, elderly normal spinal model separately and analyzes them by finite element method, the main modeling software is Simpleware, analysis and solving software is ANSYS. There are differences in material and physical properties among different models. After modeling, we impose the same load to simulate different kinds of movement of the spine, and the results of the analysis are obtained. Then analyze the results that are obtained. We mainly analyzes the young normal spine model and young lesions spine model by the same external force and get comparison result of stress and displacement. We also analyzes young normal spine model and elderly normal spine model under the circumstance of the same force and get the contrast result of stress and displacement. By comparing the stress and displacement data, it can analyze the differences between different spine models, the study has important guiding significance for the study of spinal cord and the treatment of spinal disease. So before surgery simulation procedure, it reach the purpose of helping doctors make reasonable operation scheme. After the surgery, it also can help to analyze the operation effect, and patients are given appropriate advice to guide them. The topic comes from the national natural fund project “Biomechanics Modeling of and Operation Evaluation System of Human Spinal Lumbar Segment”. The project also has some defects: spine model only consists of three main ligamenta, only considering one disease model which is protrusion of intervertebral disc, not considering other tissues such as muscle. The next plan is improving the model, adding other ligamenta and muscle tissue, in addition, analyzing other disease models will be considered.
