Study On Health Status And Health Service Needs Of Older Adults In The Community In Jinzhou City

Objective The purpose of this study is to understand the health status and health service needs of older adults in the community in Jinzhou City, to explore the influencing factors of them, and to improve the satisfaction of health service needs for the elderly and provide a theoretical basis.Methods The study adopted convenience sampling method. A total of 329 community older people in Jinzhou answered the questionnaire which contained general situation questionnaire, self-rated health measurement scale and service assessment questionnaire. The data were analyzed by SPSS 17.0.Results 1 The scores of health status of older people in the community were 337.54±50.64. The top three in SRHMS were the activity of daily life, mental symptom and negative emotion and positive emotions, which were accounted for 94.5%, 93.8% and 82.7% respectively. The scores of the health service needs of the elderly were 1.78±1.62. The top three in the health service needs were medical service, personal care and care of employment, which were accounted for 47.7%, 28.3% and 28.0% respectively.2 The older people‘s health status in difference of age,living situation, the level of education,occupation and physical examination conditions all showed statical difference. The influencing factors of the older people‘s health status were the level of education, living situation, the age and body mass index. 3 The influencing factors of the health service needs of the elderly were age, health status and living alone status. We have to meet more to advanced age, poor health status and living alone in the health service needs for the elderly.Conclusions 1 The community older people‘s health status were fine and had demand in health service in Jinzhou City. 2 The score of health status of the elderly in living alone group was higher than non-living alone group in community in Jinzhou City. The score of more than twelve years group was higher than less than twelve years group in educational level. The score of mental labor group was higher than manual labor group. The score of regular physical examination group was higher than another group. The influencing factors of health status were the level of education, living situation, age and body mass index. The older people with lower education level, living alone, advanced age and lower body mass index should be given more attention by community workers. 3 The score of the health service needs of the elderly in living alone group was higher than non-living alone group. The influencing factors of the health service needs of the elderly were age, health status and living alone status. We should give more needs of health service to older people with advanced age, poor health status or living alone.
