| Objective: To summarize the theoretical foundation, valuable experiences, efficacy characteristics and mechanism of moxibustion cosmetology by collationand research of the ancient and modern literature s; to explore the acupointscompatibility and combination therapy rules in the modern clinical applicationsby using data mining techniques including frequency statistics and correlationanalysis, in order to promote further improvement in the theoretical system ofmoxibustion cosmetology and provide a theoretical guidance for the clinicalapplication of moxibustion cosmetology. Methods: We conducted a computer-based retrieval of the clinical researchliteratures about moxibustion cosmetology and mechanism and commondisfiguring diseases from1979to2013in CNKI, WanFang and VIP database, aswell as the Superstar Digital Library. After manual screening, the duplicate andunqualified literatures were excluded. The relevant theory and mechanism ofmoxibustion cosmetology were given systematic collation, analysis andsummary. Excle and Spss Clementine12.0software were used for frequencystatistics and Apriori correlation analysis of the clinical research literature sabout common disfiguring diseases.Results:1. The frequency statistics showed that suspended moxibustion was mostfrequently used in the treatment of alopecia areata for15times (53.57%) andacne for8times (32.0%), followed by sandwiched moxibustion (gingermoxibustion) and point moxibustion. Other moxibustion therapies were rarelyused; Ashi acupoint was most frequently used in the treatment of alopecia areatafor25times (43.86%) and acne for13times (20.31%).2. The correlation analysis showed that among the literatures onmoxibustion treatment of alopecia areata," suspended moxibustion-plum-blossom needle" had the highest support degree (48.148%) and confidencecoefficient (86.667%);"Shenshu-Ashi acupoint","Pishu-Shenshu" and "Shenmen-Ashi acupoint" had the highest support degree (14.815%). Among theliteratures on moxibustion treatment of acne," suspended moxibustion-acupuncture" had the highest support degree (27.273%) and confidencecoefficient (75.0%);"Qihai-Guanyuan" and "Zusanli-Ashi acupoint" had thehighest support degree (18.182%), with the confidence coefficients of100%and66.667%, respectively.Conclusions:1. Moxibustion cosmetology is guided by the basic theory of traditionalChinese medicine, based on the special effects of moxibusti on treatment, withan extremely long historical process of formation and development.2. Moxibustion treatment has a significant effect on disfiguring diseases, inwhich suspended moxibustion is most frequently used in the treatment ofalopecia areata and acne, followed by sandwiched moxibustion (gingermoxibustion).3. Ashi acupoint is most frequently used in the treatment of alopecia areataand acne, indicating that the local therapeutic effect of moxibustion is the key inthe treatments of alopecia areata and acne.4."Suspended moxibustion-plum-blossom needle" is the best combinationof moxibustion treatment of alopecia areata. |
