Objective:Observing the anatomic variation and measuring the bone volume of middle meatus and nasal cavity and the rate of middle meatus in the same side of nasal cavity by analyzing the expression of paranasal sinus CT. Searching whether these variation and volume data are related to maxillary fungal ball,respectively discussing some related questions.Method:Measuring the double side bone volume of middle meatus, nasal cavity and the rate of middle meatus volume in the same side of nasal cavity respectively in the normal group,the maxillary fungal ball group and the unilateral maxillary sinusitis group.Observing the anatomic variation include nasal deviation,concha bullosa,hypertrophy process uncinatus and ethmoidal bulb and Haller’s cells.There are33cases in the maxillary fungal ball group, and30cases in the other two group.Statistical evaluating the anatomic variation and volume of nasal cavity and nasal meatus.Result:In the maxillary fungal ball group,the affected side and the contralateral side volume of middle meatus,nasal cavity and the rate of middle meatus volume in the nasal cavity are1.5964±0.3961mm3、1.5724±.4109mm3、 22.6833±2.7079mm3,22.8330±3.0945mm3、7.0706±1.7455%、7.1245±1.9267%respectively; In the unilateral maxillary sinusitis group,the affected side and the contralateral side volume of middle meatus,nasal cavity and the rate of middle meatus volume in the nasal cavity are1.4580±0.4360mm31.4507±0.4165mm3、21.9447±3.4379mm3.21.8030±3.3106mm3、6.6973±1.9212%、6.6550±1.6234%respectively.The bilateral bone volume of middle meatus,nasal cavity and the rate of middle meatus volume in the nasal cavity in the above group have no statistical difference(p>0.05);In the normal group,the bone volume of middle meatus,nasal cavity and the rate of middle meatus volume in the nasal cavity are1.3532±0.2790mm3、21.507±3.0948mm3、6.3588±1.2409%respectively; Comparing the middle meatus volume and the rate of middle meatus,nasal cavity of the maxillary fungus ball group affected side and normal group, p is0.03,0.025,0.07,the first two have statistical difference,and the last have no statistical difference,comparing the normal group and the unilateral maxillary sinusitis group affected side, p is0.17、0.315、0.559,there is no statistical difference.The middle meatus volume was measured in33patients with maxillary fungus ball,15(45.45%) had larger lesion-side middle meatus volumes,and17(51.52%)had smaller lesion-side. Of the30patients with unilateral maxillary sinusitis, the middle meatus volume was measured and16(53.33%) had smaller lesion-side middle meatus volumes,and14(46.67%)larger lesion-side middle meatus volumes.In the maxillary fungal ball group,the unilateral maxillary sinusitis group and the normal group, the morbidity of deviation septum is24.24%、50%.33.33%, p is0.098,the morbidity of OMC variation is30.3%、26.67%、26.67%, p is0.932,there is no statistical difference,the morbidity of nasal anatomic variation is54.55%、80%、60%, p is0.17,there is no statistical difference.Comparing the angle of the double side in the three group,p is0.212、0.758、0.401, there is no statistical differrence.Conclution:Maybe there is some correlation between the larger bone middle meatus and the maxillary fungal ball. There is no relationship between the nasal anatomic variation and the maxillary fungal ball and the unilateral maxillary sinusitis,include obstruction of OMC and deviation septum.
