| ObjectiveTo measure the diameter of cochlear nerve in normal hearing children with different ages, and evaluate the diameter variations with age.Materials and MethodsCollection in November2011to March2014in shandong institute of medical imaging for not hearing reason cerebral MR images of156cases of children,.All the subjects were divided into13groups according to their ages, namely one month-≤6months,7months-≤1years old and2years to12years for an interval of one-year-old groups of randomly selected12cases of continuous, in which male and female all six cases.all the subjects on the basis of conventional brain MR images to increase the inner ear three-dimensional fast imaging employed steady-state acquisition sequence scan. All participants sign the informed consent, and get this unit the ethics committee for approval. Inclusion criteria includes the hearing screening qualified, brain and inner ear auditory canal MRI showed no structural abnormalities, intracranial lesions, no history of ear infections and nervous system toxicity of drug use within the inner ear or the ear without a personal or family history, height, weight. According to the final inclusion criteria included312of the inner ear as research subjects, male78cases, female78cases;156left ear, right ear156; aged1month to12years, an average of6.2±5.8years. Using the GE3.0T superconducting MR scanner (signa HDxt; GE medical systems, Milwaukee, Wis.),8channel phased-array coil for receiving coil, imaging sequences including conventional cerebral coronary T2WI FSE sequence and the inner ear scan on three dimensional fast imaging employed steady-state acquisition sequence. The diameter of cochlear nerve was measured in the entrance of the cochlear, the middle of internal auditory canal and the bottom of internal auditory canal, respectively. Then the diameters measured were analyzed with age, gender and between two sides. Using double blind method by two MRI diagnosis of high qualification doctor independent measurements, take the two people’s average as the final measurement results.Measuring results of two read those lines intraclass correlation coefficient (intraclass correlation coefficient, ICC) inspection; The diameter of cochlear nerve and between different gender, side don’t t test;Pearson correlation analysis is used to compare the correlation between age and each parameter; Single factor and multi-factor analysis of variance were used for evaluation of cochlear nerve in different diameter measurement point, and its changes along with the age growth, P<0.05, with statistical significance.ResultsThe three dimensional fast imaging employed steady-state acquisition images can show the cochlea of cochlear nerve (CN), appeared as linear low signal pass into the cochlea; Facial nerve, cochlear nerve, the vestibular nerve and vestibular nerve can be showed clearly on the Oblique sagittal images, appeared as round, oval and comma-shaped low signal. read the156cases studied312ears of cochlear nerve in the measurement results of different survey points, and the ICC, according to the valueThe mean value (mean±SD) of cochlear nerve diameter were1.12±0.08mm in the entrance of internal auditory canal,1.05±0.06mm in the middle of internal auditory canal and0.87±0.14mm in the bottom of internal auditory canal, respectively. There were significant differences among different areas (P<0.05). No significant differences in nerve diameter were found in different genders and between the two sides (p>0.05). Additionally, there were no significant differences among different age-groups (p>0.05).ConclusionThe diameter of cochlear nerve was larger in the middle and bottom of internal auditory canal than that in the entrance of cochlear, and it varies little with age. Preliminary establishment of children cochlear nerve normal range can help patients with congenital and Sensorineural Hearing Loss before Cochlear implant preoperative evaluation of cochlear nerve. |
