| Objective:This research was aimed to discuss the impact of electro-acupuncture on the executive function of internet addiction disorder (IAD) patients, with the detection of magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS), the assessment of Young’s Internet Addiction Test (IAT), Aventura Karimov table, short-term memory quantity, craving scale, Stroop test and N-back working memory task, in order to provide a more scientific and objective evaluation system and a comprehensive treatment plan for future research.Methods:32IAD patients were divided randomly into2groups. Among them,2patients couldn’t continue the trial for personal reasons, while one was excluded for intracranial cyst, so totally had accomplished29patients, of which15in acupuncture treatment group and14in psychology treatment group. At the same time,16volunteers were recruited as normal controls. MRS, IAT, Aventura Karimov table, short-term memory quantity, craving scale, Stroop test and N-back working memory task were applied to measure the addiction condition, attention bias, reaction inhabitation, working memory and biochemical metabolism of certain brain regions of29IAD patients and16normal controls. All the data had been compared within or among the groups.Results:1. IAT and craving scale scores showed that both acupuncture and psychological treatments were able to significantly alleviate IAD symptoms (P<0.05), but acupuncture was significantly better than psychological treatments (P<0.05)2. The results of Aventura Karimov table and short-term memory quantity revealed that there was no difference of brain working ability between IADs and normal controls (P>0.05)3. The results of Stroop task showed that, before the treatment, there were significant differences of RT and ACC between IADs and normal controls under both the IC and CC condition (P<0.05). After the treatment, electro-acupuncture therapy showed a better effect than psychological therapy (P<0.05). N-back working memory task showed that, before the treatment, there was a significant difference of ACC between the control group and psychological group in1-back (P<0.05). At the same time, the difference of RT was significant between IADs and normal controls in2-back (P<0.05) while there was no difference of ACC (P>0.05).After the treatment, there was a significant difference of RT between electro-acupuncture group and psychological therapy group in2-back (P<0.05)4.The rate of Cho/Cr of IADs was lower than the normal controls (P<0.05) After the treatment, the rate of Cho/Cr of electro group was significantly higher than the psychological group (P<0.05)Conclusion:Both of the electro-acupuncture and psychological therapy can release the internet addiction symptoms. The executive function of IAD patients was not damaged significantly while the compound and degradation of Cho was decreased. The electro-acupuncuture could improve the anti-interference ablility, working memory and imformation updating capacity of IAD patients. |
