Purpose: To observe the affection of percutaneous electro-stimulation on spermvitality(Rank PR, Rank PR+NP)of patients with simple asthenospermia and differencesbetween different therapeutic frequency, and to speculate the mechanism.Methods:105patients with asthenospermia were randomly divided into4groups as27for2HZ treatment group,26for100HZ treatment group,23for placebo treatmentgroup and29for control group. The sperm vitality and expression of EPPIN mRNA andprotein before and after a course of treatment were compared between and in the groups. The differences of the variations in sperm vitality of each group before and after thetreatment were investigated by statistical method.Rusults: The curative effect of2HZ group was significantly better than the rest3groups (P<0.05). The rate of Rank PR and the sperm vitality (PR+NP) were improvedobviously (P<0.05) in2HZ group; and no significant changes were found in other threegroups. In the comparison of expression of EPPIN mRNA and protein between the groupsbefore and after the treatment, there were significant decrease in2HZ group group(P<0.05). No significance was found in the variations of other groups. Conclusions: The therapy that transcutaneous electro-stimulation at acupoint has asignificant effect on male asthenospermia.
