| Objective To evaluate the clinical value of heart rate variability change in the patients with pancreatic cancer. Methods Totally518clinical cases from January2008to May2013were retrospectively analyzed in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine. We examined the moderating effects of gender, age, cancer stages and distant metastasis on HRV including standard diviation of NN intervals (SDNN) and root mean square of successive differences (RMSSD).We tested statistical significance of C-ractive protein (CRP) and tumor diameter between low HRV group and high HRV group, using the cut-off of SDNN=20ms. Results Cancer patients with early stages had significant higher HRV than those with advanced stages(P<0.001). Cancer patients without metastasis had significant higher HRV than those with metastasis(P=0.011).CRP was higher in low HRV group than that in high HRV group (P=0.008). Conclusion The later the stage of pancreatic cancer patients is, the more the index of HRV declines. This may be related to the mechanism that vagal nerve excitement inhibitis inflammatory reaction. |
