Objectives:This study, based on the concept of health management, aims at exploring and establishing a comprehensive health care evaluation system for elderly inpatients and putting forward relative assessment methods, so as to discover major health problems and care needs for elderly patients and thus to provide elders with an integrated and accurate nursing intervention.Methods:1. Literature analysis and optimization:Through a review of a large number of relevant literatures, we tracked the status and progress of the research studies on comprehensive health care assessments of elderly hospitalized patients in and out of China. Meanwhile, we compared and analyzed the indicator meanings at each dimension, structures and evaluation methods of the evaluation systems to form a preliminary items pool of evaluation contents and methods.2. Theoretical analysis:In accordance with the health management theory, with references to the technical contents and methods of the comprehensive geriatric assessments, and combining China’s national conditions, characteristics of elderly patients and clinical care needs, we tentatively worked out an elderly inpatients’ comprehensive health care evaluation indicator system.3. Delphi method:Based on the elderly inpatients’ comprehensive health care evaluation indicator system draft, we designed a structured expert consultation questionnaire. With the experts’ rich experience and theoretical knowledge in this field, we then screened the indicators, determined their weights, and established the final indicator system.4. Statistical Method:A statistical analysis of the data collected from the two rounds of expert consultations was conducted by applying Excel and SPSS 22.0 software.Results:1.The result of Delphi expert consultation:two rounds of questionnaire response rate was 100%, which indicated that the experts’ enthusiasm is high;expert grouppersonal authority was in 0.70 above, experts group coefficient was 0.89. which showedthatexpert group has goodrepresentative level and authority. The variation coefficient was between 0%-17.3%, and there was a statistical significance for expert consultationcoordinate coefficientaccording to thechi-square p value is less than 0.05that thecoordinate coefficient of level-2 was in 0.4 above. It indicated that the coordination extent increasedgradually, the experts’suggestion wasentralized.2.The indicators of the elderly inpatients’comprehensive health care evaluation system are established and their weights are determined. The system contains five first grade assessment indicators,18 second grade indicators and 18 assessment methods of the second grade indicators. Conclusion:The elderly inpatients’comprehensive health care evaluation system established and their weights are determined, which can provide references for giving integrated and accurate nursing assessment and intervention to elders.
