Analysis On Suspending Schooling Due To Illness And Mortality Of Students During 2004 To 2013 In Dalian City

Objective:By dynamic analyzing the data collected from the causes of suspending schooling due to illness and mortality of students during 2004 to 2013 in Dalian, we aimed to know the principal disease that influence students’ physical and mental health, grasp the reasons for student deaths, explore developing trend. To provide scientific evidence for preventive health care, reduce and control disease and accident death, ensure students’physical and mental health.Methods:According to relevant requirements of the supervision and monitoring of health statistics annual report, fill out all students suspending schooling due to illness and mortality information questionnaire. Suspending schooling due to illness content includes infectious diseases, mental diseases, cardiovascular diseases and the other diseases. Mortality content includes disease death and accident death (suicide, traffic accidents and drowning). Suspending schooling is subject to hospital diagnostic, death to death report cards. School medical officerenter up the number of students and reasons, and report to Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).CDC is in charge ofstatistical summary.Results:The total percentage of students suspended schooling due to illness was 0.960%o. The diseases led to the suspending were infectious diseases,mental diseases,cardiovascular diseases and the other diseases, the ratio was up to 24.70%, 13.16%,8.59% and 53.56% respectively in suspending students.There was a statistical difference between different learning stage (P=0.000),the highest wasmiddle school students; The largest rate of cardiovascular diseases and infectious diseases occurred in middle school; the rate of mental disease was upper by the classes of education, particularly in college. There was also a statistical difference between city and rural area(P=0.000). Besides the cardiovascular diseases,the other two diseases occurred in rural area as a higher rate.The total death rate was 10.06 in 100000 students.Accident death accounted for 70.32%. The main cause of accident death were traffic accidents, drowning and suicide. There was a statistical difference between different learning stage(P=0.000), the highest was middle school students; The largest rate of disease death occurred in middle school; the highest suicide rate was in middle school and the higher in college; the highest traffic accidents rate was in technical secondary schools and the higher in primary and secondary school; the rate of drowning was inferior by the classes of education, particularly in primary school. There was also a statistical difference between city and rural area(P=0.000), and higher mortality was found in rural area. The mortality of traffic accidents and drowning were higher in rural primary and secondary school; higher suicide mortality was found in rural primary school.Conclusion:The key point of the prevention is accidental injury. We should pay attention to infectious diseases, especially in rural middle school; but the mean point of prevention of city student is cardiovascular diseases, just as college to prevent mental diseases. Middle school students are the key multitude in this research.The key point of the prevention is accident death, especially in rural area; Middle school students are the key multitude in this research.
