Objective: To research the anti-emetic mechanism of Xiaobanxia decoction(XBXT) from the perspective of gastrointestinal hormone in chemotherapy-induced pica rats. Methods: Male wistar rats were randomly divided into normal control, XBXT control, cisplatin model, ondansetron, XBXT high dose and low dose groups. Pica model was induced by cisplatin 6 mg/kg i.p.. One hour before cisplatin injection, each group was gavaged with distilled water, XBXT 0.8 g/kg, ondansetron 1.3 mg/kg, distilled water, XBXT 1.6 g/kg and 0.8 g/kg, respectively, and administerd every 12 h until the animals were sacrificed. Kaolin was weighed every 12 h, food, water and body weight were weighed every 24 h. At the time points of 24 h and 72 h after cisplatin injected, gastrointestinal hormones in serum were measured using ELISA method. Results: Gastrin and motilin were declined 24 h and 72 h after model, VIP、SS and SP were increased at the same time. Not only decrease the consumption of kaolin, XBXT can also convert the decline of gastrin and motilin and the increase of VIP、 SS and SP. Conclusion: The mechanism of XBXT on the prevention and treatment of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting was related to ameliorate the disorders of gastrointestinal hormone.
