Wireless health monitoring system overcomes the shortage of traditional cable health monitoring system, making patients be supervised the physiological and pathological parameters at any time or place. ECG is a true reflection of the physiological status of the heart to some extent, and it is also the key indicators in the medical monitoring electrical parameters. Zig Bee is an emerging short-range, low-speed, low-power wireless networking technology, which is a wireless access technology between RFID and Bluetooth. For the advantages mentioned above, it has good prospects to use ZigBee in the ECG transmission and wireless medical monitoring in the near future. In this paper, ECG monitoring and positioning system solution using ZigBee wireless network is proposed. The solution presents the network topology and the various devices which can be suitable to use in the wireless ECG transmission. The system is mainly composed of three major sections, such as the ECG acquisition module, wireless transmitter module and wireless receiver module.ECG acquisition module uses TI’s INA118 instrumentation amplifier chip as the core, to accomplish the function of ECG collection, filtering and amplification.Wireless transmission module uses TI’s CC2430/CC2431 SOC chip as the core, including three wireless modules, such as coordinator node, data reception node and mobile nodes, mainly to accomplish the function of the ADC, wireless transmission of the ECG data and location message. Finally, PC testing programs in Visual Basic are designed, including real-time monitoring of ECG waveform and patients location. So medical staff can supervise the real-time ECG waveform and the current position of patients with mobile node, and doctor can quickly implement emergency measures for patients in unexpected situations.
