Objective The aim of this study was to investigate the diagnostic efficiency of serum homocysteine different detection methods in order to evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of different detection methods, which would provide valuable evidence for accurate monitoring of serum homocysteine’s level, and the treatment and prognosis of diseases. Methods We selected 210 cases of hospitalized patients as the case group, including 106 patients with cerebral infarction, 104 cases with coronary heart disease.ELISA, cycling enzymatic, rate method and chemiluminescence assays were used simultaneously to detect the serum homocysteine level.SPSS17.0 statistical software was used for sorting analysis.Results1. The serum homocysteine levels in patients with myocardial and cerebral infarction were significantly higher than that of the healthy group(P <0.05).2. There was a positive correlation between ELISA method and the other detection methods, of which enzymatic cycle had the most relevant, and on the other hand, the chemiluminescence assay showed the weakest correlation.3. The sensitivity(from high to low)of various detection methods were as follows,ELISA, rate method, enzymatic cycle, chemiluminescence, while the proper order of the specificity were: enzymatic cycle, ELISA, rate method, photochemical method.4. The case group receiver operating characteristic curve(ROC) area under the curve in order was: ELISA, enzyme cycling rate method, chemiluminescence. However, detection index’s area under the ROC curve in different disease groups showed significantly different. Conclusions When the clinical samples were on a large scale, the enzymatic cycle assay of serum homocysteine showed easy operation, and high accuracy of the test results, which is significantly better than the other methods.
