Research On Characteristics Of Memory Impairment Of Type 2diabetic Patients

Objective:Study the memory injury character of type 2 diabetic patients and provide a basis for interfering the decline of memory ability. More important is to slow down the speed of memory damage in patients,reduce the economic burden of their family and society and therefore improving their life quality.Methods:60 diabetic patients from the endocrinology department of the first clinical hospital of Shanxi Medical University were selected, the data of time on their hospitalization was from march,2014 to october,2014. All the tested patients were divided into two groups according to the length of course of type 2 diabetes:group A(29 cases,disease courses<5years),group B(31 cases,5 years≤disease courses≤10 years) and control group(60 cases,healthy volunteers with the level of age, gender, education matched). Memory functional assays of all subjects were measured with the Clinical Memory Scale(Xu et al, Institute of Psychology Chinese Academy of Science) and screened by mini-mental state examination(MMSE), Self-Rating Depression Scale(SDS) and Self-Rating Anxiety scale(SAS).We collected the test scores of pointing memory,association learning,free picture recall,insignificant figure recognition and portrait character association recall, and converted them into scale score. Then according to the scale score and culture degree we can get their memory level. We compared the difference of memory index value of different type 2 diabetes by using independent sample t test.Results:1.There are statistically significant differences in the score of pointing memory between group A and control group(the test statistics: group A 12.41±4.63,control group19.39±5.74).2.There are statistically significant differences in pointing memory, free picture recall,insignificant figure recognition and portrait character association recall between the index value of group B and the control group(the test statistics: group B 10.52±3.40, control group 17.45±5.71; group B 14.84±4.28, control group 18.89±2.74; group B 13.19±4.43, control group 19.21±4.20; group B 14.42±3.68, control group 18.58±4.53).Couclusions:It is obviously damaged in pointing memory with Type 2 diabetes less than 5 years,whose symptom is difficult to extract information.However,the patients with type 2diabetes 5-10 years were positively injured in pointing memory, free picture recall,insignificant figure recognition and portrait character association recall with performance in information extraction, storage and encoding.
