Objective Using polysomnography(PSG),Epworth sleepiness scale(ESS) and Berlin Questionnaire( BQ),to evaluate the clinical effects of the self-adjustive oral appliance treated in the mild and moderate obstructive sleep apnea and hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS) patients, compared with adjustive oral appliance. Methods 56 cases of mild and moderate OSAHS patients were randomly assigned into two groups: the experimental group and control group.Patients of experimental group were treated with the self-adjustable oral appliance while patients of control group were treated with the adjustable oral appliance. The observation index of objective effects was PSG monitoring index(AHI、AI、HI、LSa O2 、the longest apnea time). The observation index of subjective effects included ESS scale and BQ scale. The observation time was 1 weeks before and 3 months after treatment. There were statistically significant differences when P<0.05.Results The PSG index(AI, HI, AHI, LSa O2, the longest apnea time), ESS scale and BQ scores of the experimental group were significantly different before and after treatment. Compared with the control group, the changes of PSG(AI, HI, AHI, LSa O2, the longest apnea time) in the experimental group had no significant differences(P>0.05), while the changes of the ESS score and BQ score were significantly different between two groups(P<0.05).The objective efficiency of the self-ajustable oral appliance was 85.7%.Conclusion Compared with the adjustable oral appliance, the self-adjustable oral appliance could equally resolve the respiratory disorders objectively in the OSAHS patients, while it was more comfortable and could improve the subjective symptoms more effectively.
