| Melastoma dodecandrum Lour. is extensively distributed in southern provinces to the Yangtze River such as Guizhou, Fujian, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Yunnan provinces. The Yao, Miao, She ethic societies and other ethnic minorities used it more widely. In the folk, this plant has been used to treat dysmenorrhea, postpartum abdominal pain, metrorrhagia, leucorrhea, hematochezia, dysentery, carbuncle swollen, boils. In order to explore the chemical compositons and find active compounds of the plant, we carried out a systemanic study on the Et OAc fraction and PE fraction of ethanol extract from the whole arial parts of Melastoma dodecandrum Lour.Forty-two compounds were isolated and purified from Et OAc fraction and PE fraction of 95% ethanolic extract from Melastoma dodecandrum Lour by silica gel, Sephadex LH-20 and ODS column chromatography. On the basis of their physico-chemical properties and spectroscopic data as well as reference to literatures, thirty-eight compounds were identified as quercetin(1), quercetin-3-O-β-Dglucopyranoside(2), quercetin-3-O-(6″-O-p-coumaroyl)-β-D-glucopyranoside(3), kaempferol(4), kaempferol-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside(5), kaempferol-3-O-[2″,6″-di-O-(E)-coumaroyl]-β-D-glucopyra-noside(6), luteolin(7), luteolin-7-O-(6″-pcoumaroyl)-β-D-glucopyranoside(8), apigenin(9), apigenin-7-(6″-acetyl-glucopy ranoside)(10), naringenin(11), isovitexin(12), epicatechin-[8,7-e]-4β-(4-hydro xyphenyl)-3,4-dyhy droxyl-2(3H)-pyranone(13), aviculin(14), asiatic acid(15), terminolic acid(16), ursolic acid(17), betulinic acid(18), 3-O-methylellagic acid(19), 3,3′-O-dimethyl ellagic acid 4-O-α-L-rhamnopyranoside(20), 4-O-(6″-O-p-coum aroyl-β-D-glucopyranosyl)-p-coumaric acid(21), 2-O-(E)-caffeoyl-1-O-p-(E)-coum aroyl-β-D-glucopyrannose(22), 1,5-di-O-caffeoylquinic acid(23), xanthienopyran(24), vanillic acid(25), p-coumaric acid(26), methyl gallate(27), ethyl gallate(28), protocatechuic acid(29), gallic acid(30), oxybenzoic acid(31), P-hydroxy acetophenone(32), eicosyl-(E)-ferulate(33), bis(2-ethylheptyl) phythalate(34),(S)-5-Ethyl-8,8-dimethyl nonanal(35), daucosterol(36), n-octacosanol(37), β-sitosterol(38). Except for compounds 1, 2, 4, 7, 12, 30, and 36-38, all the compoundsare isolated from the plant for the first time. |
