Object:To compare the recurrence rate and the time of recurrence of the primary pterygia were treated by simple surgical excision and pterygium excision surgery + 90 Sr irradiation. Methods:Collected in our department from September 2012 to March 2014 hospitalized cases of patients with pterygium surgery, according to Hui Li Jia the inclusion criteria: pterygium were primary and lateral nasal, head invade the edge of the cornea were > 2 mm, excluding collagen vascular disease, autoimmune disease, dry eye, ocular surface acute inflammation, symblepharon and limbal department had been treated with surgery. Selected cases patients informed consent cases(patients signed informed consent), according to the different treatment methods will be selected patients divided into A, B groups, pterygium excision surgery + 90 Sr irradiation group(group A),32 cases(40 eyes), simple surgical excision group(B group, the control group),31 cases(39 eyes),to observe postoperative visual acuity, postoperative corneal surface repair, postoperative eyes festival photography, after the operation the patient’s subjective feeling discomfort and postoperative recurrence time, postoperative recurrence rate. Under the Slit lamp evaluate the efficacy, grading standard on the basis of Prabhasawat proposed, the grade 4 was the true recurrence of pterygium, the recurrence rate and time according with the grade 4. Preoperative gender, eyes used chi square test, preoperative time of onset, age and pterygium size used t-test, postoperative recurrence time by t test, postoperative recurrence rate used the chi square test, P < 0.05 for differences have statistical significance. Observation time: 3 to 24 months(average 16.35±10.29).Results: There were no significant differences in time of onset, age and pterygium size(mm) between the two groups, and there were no significant differences in gender and eyes. A group of grade 4 was 19 eyes(47.5%), group B was 24 eyes(61.53%), the recurrence rate after operation in group A and group B,there is no statistical significance(P > 0.05), group A recurrence time was 0.83 to 8 months(mean of 4.56 ±2.46). In group B, postoperative recurrence time was 1 ~ 6 months(average 3.88±1.33), group A and group B recurrence time the difference was not statistically significant(P > 0.05).Conclusion: Simple pterygium excision and pterygium excision surgery + 90 Sr irradiation, postoperative recurrence rate are higher.
